Written referring to notes taken Sunday, August 3rd.I had a shower before going to bed, as the showers would close at 10 and wouldn’t reopen until 7. They were kickin’, but disused - the curtains were a bit moldy. I think it’s because most people go home or go to hotels after the ferry, and most have vehicles to whisk them away to such - I was one

1. As I said in the post, I stayed at a cybercafé, which doesn't merit comparison to a hotel at any level. I was looking to spend the night as cheaply as possible and wasn't really in the market for a hotel. I did end up staying in a hotel the following night in another, smaller city, but that was because there was no obvious alternative.
2. I should stay at the Hampton Inn? The one where you work, as opposed to the 1,500 others? Is this a proposition of some kind? =)
3. WOW! Team USA!? U-S-A! U-S-A! Oh, wait, whooops, I'm a Canadian. =) OK, I have to admit I was rooting for Michael Phelps. I'm generally pro-USAmerican, but not to the point where it would impact my choice of hotel.
4. From what I can tell, the Hampton Inn fiefdom of the Hilton Empire doesn't have any locations in Japan, although I'm sure you wouldn't hesitate to recommend another brand under the Hilton umbrella.
5. Great, an advertisement that recommends I check out... more advertising! What gives? And where's the credibility? I have no reason to believe a Hampton Inn isn't a fine place to stay, but it's not the ONLY hotel chain with friendly staff and comfortable beds. And what room in a reputable hotel would be in the awful state he describes? I've seen lousy hotel rooms, but in most cases the room rate was in the $10-$20 range. You get what you pay for. Reputable hotels like yours should be compared to OTHER reputable hotels. Instead of "I should have stayed at Hampton Inn," his lament should have been, "Gee, I should have done my research and/or ponied up the dough."
6. I suppose if you're really hungry for information, you could hang around and read my next post in this series, in which I do stay at a hotel - one that would be appropriate to compare with a Hampton Inn. Um, yeah, until then?
