Is another review of 'Star Wars Episode 3', so heres one more.
Star Wars Episode 3:Revenge of the Sith.
Grade: B-/B
My expectations were met, and I think that's the problem.
I entered the movie desperately needing closure, certain things were as yet unresolved. What drove the rift between Anakin and Obi-Wan, what happened to Luke and Leia, how did Vader get himself lookin' all hideous, would Jar-Jar pay for his crimes against the senate and humanity. All of these questions were answered (except for the last) in 'now' classic Lucas style. The message was there, but some effort got lost along the way.
Should I ever make it as a director of a MULTI-MILLION dollar motion picture, I will be sure to pay someone minimum wage to slap me when I do something stupid. They even get free coffee and donuts. Crappy dialog *SMACK*, over the top makeup jobs *SMACK*, lame ass overhead pan with super angsty uber-villain bellowing in dismay *SMACK*. I dunno, just something to think about.
Visually it was stunning, great lightsaber battles (I hear the next movie features a duel wherein a lightsaber wielding octopus jedi battles a lightsaber wielding sith hydra), space battles, and scenery. The movie also took care of the necessary points of story needed to bring about the rise of both the empire and the rebellion.
So all my expectations, both good and ill were met, and the movie comes off as enjoyable if lacking that little bit of extra effort that regular head trauma can bring. Somehow I expect the remastered edition to feature and all jawa chorus line, but thats a rant for another time.
In conclusion, a good movie worth watching. Wear your favorite Star Wars gear and bring an extra lightsaber for your friend.
Oh, and try not to laugh too much at Palpatine...Sith Lords have feelings too.
