Yes, I am mostly ready, I guess. I mean, I've made all the changes my betas suggested, so I shouldn't really have any more big edits.
Now I am trying to find and change words I over used (it seems I've used the word "really" 165 times, and I think that might get annoying :| ). Then I'm going to look for typos and rewrite any really confusing or awkward sentences.
THEN I WILL BE DONE \o/
I am actually getting really excited, but I'm still kind of nervous too.
Yes they did! And I was super thrilled with some of their comments because a lot of the things they said they liked were things I was either worried about or had spent ages trying to get right. And I think my fic is a lot better now that I've fixed some of the things they pointed out (and I had ~2000 more words after editing!).
I also used the word "just" 178 times :( That one may be even harder to fix than "really." It's going to be a fun night, lol.
I'm posting on Thursday, the 14th. It's sooooo soon!
awesome! see, that's great! you have nothing to be nervous about. Yes, editing can do that to ya... I think I'm at like 45,000 words now. Damn betas :)
the word "jus"t you can delete most times. you don't really need it, in my opinion. hey how do you count how many times you used one word?
Yes, my first draft was barely over 20,000, and right now I'm nearly at 28,000. I didn't really expect that to happen.
I seem to keep wanting to use just to emphasize everything, and I'm like "BUT IT NEEDS TO BE THERE TOO! ALL 200 TIMES!" but I will force myself to delete most of them because there is no way I need to use the word that much.
Well, I have this thing called manuscript analyzer, which I downloaded here: http://www.christophermpark.com/tools.php (also an online version, it seems) and you paste your fic there and then it shows you how many times you used certain words, and you can sort the list different ways for convenience. I have found it very useful for seeing where I got repetitive.
ETA: I also saved my fic as a web document then opened it in chrome and used ctrl+f to give me an idea of how far apart the words were and stuff.
Well, I had to completely add a couple of new scenes and expand some of them, so idk if there's quite that much detail. But a good chunk of it was just adding details too.
You are welcome for the link. My only problem now is deciding how much is too much. I'm just looking over everything labeled "frequent offender" and making sure they're super vital or deleting them. I will be curious to see how much this cuts my word count down.
yay! are you ready?

I know! "just" is just an awesome word! I could use it in every sentence.
Thank you for the link! Not really sure I want to know the mess I created for myself
