Hey, you know what's frustratingly complex? Registering for university courses! Seriously, why so difficult? Is it an extra test? Like, hey, you got in, but here's just one last hurdle you have to jump over to really make it ( Read more... )

(I had this moment today while looking at courses where I thought that maybe I could major in Russian Studies. That's sort of bizarre, isn't it?)
Heeeeeeeee! Bizarre and interesting.

Is it wrong that that immediately screamed Evan to me?
HA. Is Evan a Lakers fan??

This clearly means there needs to be OT3 fic in which they send each other gorgeous pieces of jewelry from around the world when they're apart.
This is exactly what it means. Evan totally went shopping with Stéphane in Korea for a pendant for Johnny.

It totally has nothing to do with figure skating, I know what you're thinking.

I believe so, yes.

Oh man, that is the best idea ever. They went shopping together and Evan was upset that he wouldn't be able to be there when Stephane gives it to him when Stephane and Johnny are in Japan next month.

I totally believe you! (Okay, I 85% believe you. :P)

Oh nice. I shall add this to my collection of Evan articles.

Excellent. That's why Stéphane sneakily buys another pendant and sends it to Evan around the time that he and Johnny are in Japan. Just as a reminder that they're thinking of him.

Hey! I have always been fascinated by Russia, it is not at all skating influenced.

I just googled that, too. I mean, I was pretty sure he was a Lakers fan, but that article is pure gold.

YAY! And Evan's is all touched but still kind of jealous that he can't be with them, so he's kind of in a grumpy mood for a week or so. Especially when he can't help going online and checking photos, and they look so damn happy together.

Oh, okay. I don't have a particular affinity for Russia, I think. It might have something to do with me (and especially my parents/grandparents) growing up in a communistic Bulgaria. Which is not a reason to entirely write off Russia and the amazing Russian culture, but there are still a few negative associations too.

Especially when he can't help going online and checking photos, and they look so damn happy together.
Awww, yes. He's all pouty and maybe goes out and gets slightly tipsy. And drunk-dials Johnny.

I understand those negative associations. I think I have less of an affinity and more of an interest? I just think the country has a really fascinating history, and that includes more recent, communist history.

Oh man, yes! In my head Evan is a total lightweight, because he doesn't drink very often and yeah, he's tall, but he's pretty skinny. So he calls Johnny and he's just sad, really. "I'm sad," he tells Johnny, and Johnny laughs a little.

"He's drunk," Johnny says, obviously to Stephane, and Stephane makes a shocked noise in the background. Evan can picture them sitting close together, probably on Johnny's bed, Stephane with his cheek pressed against Johnny's to hear Evan.

"You both...you look so good together," Evan mumbles, because they do and they're always so close together. There are so many pictures.

"Thank you," Johnny says, gracious as ever, and Stephane tsks into the phone.

"You are good with us, too, Evan," he says, and Evan really loves how Stephane says his name.

Oh, definitely! Russia has been through A LOT throughout the centuries.

:(( EVAN :((

Mmm! I don't know why, but this made me feel all warm inside. (Huh, I don't think I've actually heard Stéphane utter Evan's name.)

And I guess the fact that they were so hated for such a long time - and still are, in some places - adds to that. There's definitely a lasting legacy, there.

It made you feel all warm inside because it was ridiculously sappy. Oh, boys, what have you done to me? (Uh...yeah, me either. Has Evan said Stephane's? Or did he just call him The Swiss Guy?)

Probably. I still love it, though. (And huh, I don't think I've heard Evan say Stéphane's name either. He did say his last name during that 'the Swiss Guy' press conference, though.)

(Now I really want to hear him say it. This is a bizarrely passionate desire.)

(I knooooooow! Stéphane should choreograph something for Evan next, and there should be lots of interview around it. Wherein they both call each other by name repeatedly.)
