So I have been reading some feminist blogs lately, and I'm kind of...unimpressed. Unimpressed and at times defensive and even offended. I count myself as a feminist, okay? 1. the old saying, 'to he who is good with a hammer, everything is a nail'.
and
2. when you get a new car/pair of shoes/baby etc you suddenly see them all around you. you are focused in on those things and pick up on them. they've probably always been just as present but now you ~notice.
so, i think when someone has their "thing" that they blog about etc, then they're going to be focused in on it. they'll see it places that we might not see it. but also, it's easy to reframe things through our own lenses and so perhaps it's easy to cast it in that light when it wasn't.
i think i'm basically agreeing with you, but also with a side of, 'sometimes they see things i don't'. also, i am such a big believer in tone. tone changes so much. if i could change one thing about the world, it would be that people would be aware of their tone and be open to hearing 'past' other peoples' tone. ok that's two things. w/e :P
still, a lot of the anger and militancy is hard won, and i try not to judge it too hard. it makes me uncomfortable and i don't always think it's justified, but i also know that people on the edge of something bring change that brings benefits that i get to enjoy.
did i make a point? /o\

I see what you mean. As soon as you're tuned into something, you're constantly tuned into it, there's nothing you can do.
And yes, I also see what you mean about people working for something, and how the miltancy comes out of that, even if it occasionally has negative effects.
