I feel like I've been pretty slack as of late in regards to the internet, what with the fact that I hadn't seen the photos of Spencer's birthday bash until about half an hour ago, and I haven't listened to the new FOB single yet. Nor do I even have it downloaded. See? Totally slack!
I have an English oral to write comparing The Handmaid's Tale to the graphic novel Y: The Last Man, which I think will be interesting, but perhaps my English class won't. And I have four fics to beta! (Possibly five, if
penceyprepster decides she needs my help as well.) And that's a good thing, because I enjoy beta reading, and it makes me feel useful when I can't write.
So yesterday I did an interview with a woman from a university nearby who's doing a study on popularity in high school. My interview went for an hour, even though they're only supposed to last at most half an hour, but that's not really the point. I thought it was really interesting the way she was conducting her study, and it got me thinking about how "popularity" works (as opposed to being genuinely well-liked.) I mean, you know that group of people who are somehow the "popular" group even though no one really likes them, and they don't really like anyone else? I'm generalizing here, but bear with me. Why are they popular? What puts them on the highest tier of social hierarchy?
I just figured I'd ask your opinion on this, because I think it's really fascinating and my flist is full of a bunch of people who can discuss, so...Discuss!
Also, have
Just because
velvet_tuberose and I were discussing how interesting it is to see people's rooms and then I took pictures and forgot to upload them. *facepalm* Anyway, they're here now! And I know they're not the best quality, but I was trying to get my ridiculous number of posters in. Feel free to ask me anything about anything that's in my room. I do love talking about myself ;)
Hope everyone has had a great week!
