Hinata held her breath as five men climbed over the hill. Not just men, but enemies. Five enemies facing her. She examined her surroundings with quick analytical eyes that were trained in to her. She stood at the bottom of the slow rising hill, one hundred yards from the men. The wind caressed her back, leaning her forward, almost urging her to start the battle. The grass reached to her ankles, tickling her heightening senses.
Hinata turned her attention to the men sneering down at her. They all held katanas at their sides, four right handed and one left handed. They dressed in traditional blue kimono's and black forehead protectors. The man in the middle stood closest to her, with two men on either side. This one will be trouble, Hinata thought.
"Turn back, small one. Or we will force you back in a coffin," the leader called to her.
Hinata stepped her right foot forward and lowered her body in to her families fighting stance. Finally, she exhaled and waited for the men to advance.
Laughter bubbled up from her enemies and Hinata cracked a smile. Just wait until you see what the Huuyga family can do, she thought.
The man on the farthest right shook his head and started to walk towards Hinata. Hinata watched with out moving as he ambled towards her, not even putting his sword at the ready. He came with in five feet of her, a grin still on his face.
Hinata shifted her weight forward and delivered a powerful blow to the man's left side. She heard the ribs crack under her palm. The man grunted and swung his kitana towards her head. Hinata side stepped and sent her palm in to the man's other side. The kitana faltered in it's flight and Hinata delivered a kick to her opponents wrist, sending the sword back up the hill. She side stepped again and kicked the man in the pelvis, breaking it in half.
A muffled cry came from the failed ninja before he fell at her feet and Hinata resumed her fighting stance, facing the four remaining men. The two men on the left disengaged from their formation and ran towards her with swords raised over her head. Hinata held her ground, waiting for them to be upon her.
As they both readied to deliver powerful strikes, Hinata brought her hands to her chest and steepled her fingers. "Byakuugan!" she cried. One of the men slid to a stop as he watched the girl's eyes turn completely white. Hinata's moved with inhuman speed as her vision changed to reveal the energy source in the bodies of the men she stood against. She watched their heat signatures flair in to existence, red mist dissipating in to the air around them. She changed her focus to the purple mist that lined the men, their energy. Watching the energy mist, she could easily see where the energy was being directed and determine their next move.
The man still charging Hinata could not see her duck under his right arm and land a kick in his spine, paralyzing his legs. He crumpled to the ground, his legs falling under him like jello. The other man still stood with his sword pointed towards Hinata, unsure of what his chances were with this devil. She sunk in to her stance and waited to see what his next move would be. His aura pulsed around him, steady. His eyes shifted back to the top of the hill and the purple mist started to pull behind him. Hinata started to laugh before he even turned around to run.
"So, a Hyuuga, hm?? I have heard of those white eyes of yours, little girl. And that won't stop us from getting him," the leader called down to Hinata.
Hinata took a step back and risked a glance at the man she was charged to protect. Her heart lurched as she saw the black aura rising around him.
Gaara lay on his side, his unruly red hair falling over his closed eyes. His red trench coat wrapped around his legs. Hinata could see his chest rising slowly with struggling breaths. Don't die yet, Gaara, she thought.
Hinata pulled her eyes from the black aura threatening to surround Gaara and looked just in time to see the leader coming at her. He moved with incredible speed that was hard for even Hinata's white eyes to detect. She placed her back to Gaara and faced the man who was now on top of her. She could see his biceps flex as he raised his sword arm straight towards her throat. Hinata leaned back over her back foot and watched the sword sweep over her. She turned her entire body to the left and kicked right. The man jumped back, away from her kick and lunged forward. Hinata barely had time to read the change in direction in his energy aura. She back flipped away from his lunge. We are taking this fight too close, she thought as she glanced at Gaara from the corner of her eye. She crouched low and began backing the man away with short, powerful strikes with her palms. Most landed on his blocking arms, but some left cracked ribs and ripped in to muscles. Hinata could see her own energy fading as she continued to pummel the man, moving him up the hill. She leaped in to the air and kicked the side of his head, forcing him to the ground. Hinata leaped on top of him and held a hand under his chin, pushing down on his wind pipe.
A scream sliced through the air behind her. The man under her smiled despite his loss of air. Hinata whipped her head around to see the forgotten ninja stand over Gaara, his kitana buried in to Gaara's stomach. Hinata screamed in anguish and grabbed the man under her by the ears and ripped his head to the side. His smile was frozen on to his face as his neck snapped.
The remaining ninja pulled his sword out of Gaara and turned to flee. Hinata ran towards him and caught him before he could make his first step. She grabbed both of his wrists and planted a foot in to his back and pulled. She heard the pop of both shoulders being pulled from their sockets and grinned to herself. Her eyes showed her fury aura in brillant red and orange arcs, sweeping over the man's body.
Oh yes, he will pay for touching the man I love, was Hinata's only thought. Pay, pay, PAY!
She threw the man to the ground and stepped over him, looming in to his view. The screamed and sobbed, looking up in to the face of revenge. Hinata glared and smiled despite his blubbering. She steepled her fingers in front of her. "White death!" she screamed in to the man's face. Her red energy formed around her right hand, pulling the mist together in to a sharp point. Hinata sliced the man's head off with her hand.
Gasping for air, Hinata struggled to breathe. Her stomach heaved and she vomited on to the man she decapitated. Her mind whirled with he image of what she had done, and she closed her eyes tightly to forget the man's severed head staring at her in fear.
As she stood panting, her eyes closed tight and tears streaming down her face, something shuffled beside her. She looked to see Gaara rolling over to his back. Her eyes shifted from white to black and her knees gave out under her. She crawled to Gaara's side and pulled him in to her lap.
"I've never seen you fight like that," he whispered to her as he looked up in to her face,
"I couldn't lose you," Hinata said. Her tears started to paint his face.
"Hinata, it is over for me." Gaara coughed and blood splattered Hinata's face.
Hinata nodded. She knew he would die here. The black aura that had surrounded him was too strong. Her heart beat wildly as Gaara closed his eyes and leaned his cheek against her arm. Hinata waited until his breath had stopped to cry her anguish in to the air. She would not let him hear her in pain.
Her breath came in great gasps as she searched around her for the answer, for the reason for her pain. Here gaze landed on the sword that killed the man in her arms. Her sobbing stopped as she looked from the sword to Gaara's face.
Hinata reached across his body to grab the sword. She pulled Gaara's face close to hers and kissed him. She gently laid his head in to her lap, freeing her other arm. Her mind cleared as she looked upon her love. Hinata grabbed the hilt of the sword with both hands and impaled the blade in to her chest. The pain was searing, white hot, and explosive. She tried to gasp, but her throat filled with the warm salt of blood. She pulled the sword out, sending more fire in to her chest. The sword dropped to her side. Her vision blackened. Hinata never took her eyes from Gaara as she laid her head on his chest and took her last breath.
