[ooc: set after this.]

The night was an endless blur of entertainment, muddled by the bubbly champagne and her own good disposition. The thought of going to the art exhibit on her own had made her uncomfortable, at best. Lana still wasn't used to the social circles Lex frequently rubbed elbows with. She was, after all, nothing but a small-town girl from Kansas.

And yet no sooner had she stepped foot inside the swanky building she had been delighted. She laughed with nameless and charismatic guests and she listened and she talked, she drank champagne and danced and danced and tomorrow she won't remember who she was dancing with.

Heels in her hand, Lana walked barefoot past the foyer. Placing her clutch purse on the marble table at the entrance, she moved artlessly, nothing but the sounds of her silk dress rustling across the floor.

"Had a good time, I assume?"

Startled, she jumped at the sound of his dark voice. Hand over her heart, she faced him. "God, Lex, you scared me."
