Trailblazers...
This was really the...
...perfect day.
Started out with a trip to the ARC, which was followed by a beautiful morning at the Farmer's Market across the street. Pat won a ginormous bag 'o oranges in the raffle...for the third time. And I won...apples. For the second time. So yes, that was fun to begin with. THEN, a bunch of us heard that there were huge squid that looked like they were from outer space washed up on Crystal Cove Beach (ok, ok...I KNOW this sounds weird, but it IS cool), so we decided we would go check them out. Well, it ended up just being Pat and I...the beach was BEYOND gorgeous; we couldn't get over how amazing it was on a January afternoon!
After parking, we walked all the way down,
collecting shells etc, to find no squid. But what we DID find were a bunch of abandoned beach cottages. So being the nosy and curious people we are, we decided to explore! They were SO COOL!!!!!!!!
Old seashells we found just lined up on an old fireplace
After poking around about four different homes, we went back down onto the sand and found the squid...all three of them. And not even whole ones, they had been dismembered by seagulls or something.
#1 ("wtf" look #1 as well)
#2 ("wtf" look #2)
#3
So we just walked through the huge tide pools and had photo shoots instead of looking at the so-called "masses" of squid from Mars.
But it was still an even more successful trip to the beach than we thought it would be! We were there for a total of about 2 1/2 hours, and then we went into Laguna, since Pat had never been there. Shopped around, ate an early dinner at a cafe nearby, and had the biggest cone of frozen yogurt I have ever seen in my life! And to top THAT all off, we came back here, saw an AMAZING and BIZARRE workshop play (with Sasha Harris, my FAVORITE actress here, and Rick, our hot-but-obnoxious 30A teacher from last quarter), and I just finished watching my "Sex And The City, Season Six: Part Two" DVD with Taryn, Kate, and Laura!
You know why this day was so great? There was not ONE moment throughout its course in which I was worried, angry, confused, rushed, mad, distressed -- ANYTHING negative. Don't you love it when that happens?
