They had, indeed, notice he was hiding and practically gone. At first they didn't think much of it... it was Robin, he was probably focusing on hacking some highly protected organization or helping Batman investigate. They did worry about his health... but it was Robin, he knew how to take care of himself. And the dissapearing food was if anything, an indication that he was at least remembering to take care of the basic stuff.
But it wasn't long since they realized something was of. Robin wouldn't let Wally (his best friend!) inside his room, and he didn't even come out to help M'gann when she needed help with the earth's computers. They were all even scared of stepping inside his room, nobody wan. ted to deal with his traps and get hurt. Even the oblivious Superboy knew something must be up with the wonder boy.
He had returned early that day; he hadn't felt like staying with the others to buy food (they'd be at it forever anyway, it was hard to find something with not a trace of fish... poor AL). With a few leaps he could already see their base, and he was about to jump to the entry when he heard something.
It was a soft noise. Almost nothing, but it was there. Somebody was... sleeping? He was pretty sure it was not an animal. And he would not stand for people putting their base in danger, or spying on it. He walked towards it as quietly as he could... he was not an expert on that kind of stuff, but he had learned some tricks from Robin and Batman. He just hopped he could get the spy before they woke up.
It wasn't like Dick would rig his room in a way that would injure them. But they all probably unsuccessfully have tried to get to his room.
Robin had found a nice comfortable spot to curl up in and fall asleep. He hadn't taken into account that any of them would arrive back early. More so Superboy. Sneaking around was rather difficult with his super abilities. But right now he was blissfully unaware of the other, fast asleep.
He was using his cape as like a blanket under him, since the warm sun was keeping him comfortable enough that way. He was curled up on his side, the long and thin tail he had wrapped around one of his legs. His ears twitched a bit, responding from outside sounds, but apparently becoming more catlike also meant not getting up from the slightest of noises. If he didn't feel like he was in danger, he would just continued to sleep.
Oh and purr lightly. Apparently he also had the nice ability to make cute purring sounds.
He didn't usually use his super abilities with his friends if he could help it, it didn't feel fair. He couldn't really control his hearing though, and sometimes his strenght went out of control. He still tried though.
After a few moments of looking around he finally found the source of the calm breathing. And. Well.
He was expecting many things, but not... that. He was pretty sure he hadn't seen Robin sleeping. Like, ever. Even if he was usually one of the first ones to go bed the days they stayed at the base. And specially not... outside. As hidden as he was, he was still fairy vulnerable...
Then he thought he should be wondering what was with the cat disguise instead of wondering why was he sleeping.
The teenager instantly shot up at the use of his name. He quickly around until settling with just staring at Superboy blanking. His mind was trying to work fast as possible as to what to do.
Of course Robin was now extremely transparent. If Superboy knew how to read a cat, then he could read Robin no. The tail was more limp then anything and the soft, jet black ears drooped and lay flat against his head.
He quickly rolled into a standing position. Please don't mention them. Or touch them. oh god this was just a really bad dream right?
Well, if there had been any doubt the little sleeping boy was Robin it faded away on that very moment. Which only made the situation even more weird.
"...Are... you okay? Is something wrong?"
Because surely he wouldn't have been sleeping outside if there wasn't a good reason? He was pretty sure it wasn't a normal thing to do anyway. He knew what camping and sleepovers where, but that did not look like it was the case.
Besides, what was with the ears?
"And why are you wearing this...?" Karma would always be a bitch to Robin, so now Superboy was reaching to touch the tip of one of the ears, raising his eyebrows in interest.
[Minus having these strange appendages apparently.
The boy immediately backed up a bit, staring at his hands warily. Superboy was going to either have to do it when he isn't paying attention or get him to not be so angry about it.
That, and he doesn't want you knowing that they're completely attached. He's afraid you'll yank his sensitive ears.] "Longggg story..."
Too bad that was only going to make Superboy meven ore curious about them. They really did look like kitten eyes... but Superboy assumed it was just a really well done costume. He still did not understand the reason why Robin would wear them though.
"I see." He said that in a tone that clearly implied he didn't see at all and he wasn't done asking. "Does this mean you'll come out of your room now? I... We've been worried."
He wouldn't say that out loud, but not having the wonder boy around to destroy their vocabulary and provide deadpan snarkers felt kind of...wrong.
[If only you knew Superboy. But Robin wasn't going to talk to him about it unless you pushed the subject. He had no intention of telling anyone.]
"I've just been busy doing stuff. I'm not coming out though." [Not until this spell was dealt with. Kid Flash would never let him live this down, although he was sure M'Gann would be all over it like a girl finding something amazingly adorable.
He pushed back the other...and you remember him having that tail Superboy? Because it just ran against your arm as he moved past you.]
It wasn't something he'd be able to hide forever though. And Superboy was born curious, once he asked he would not rest until he knew the answer.
He hadn't forgotten about the tail, but he wasn't expecing it to touch him... it was soft. And fluffy. It really felt like a cat's furr. It was really well done.
Almost...
"...Are those REAL?!"
He didn't mean to sound that surprised. He was usually really calm- except when he was angry. Which yes, to be honest was a little bit more than half the time. But still.
Okay, that... explained some things. He would hide too if he suddenly grew ears. Either hide or run away. It told wonders of Robin that he hadn't panicked and ran away.
"No- why would I?" It was cute, and... well, maybe it was a little bit funny and maybe he was going to make fun of him later when they had talked about it and he knew was going on and Robin didn't look that scared. But not now, he didn't want the wonder boy to feel even worse about it.
"What... what happened though?" He tried to sound worried enough to let Robin know he wasn't going to burst out laughing, but not too much so he would not feel weirded out.
"Oh I don't know. Robin the Boy Wonder, suddenly some half cat mixed human breed. Isn't that hilarious?" [He's so obviously upset about this. It's been hell trying to not give in to the more catlike part of his mind though. Which was to say he did give in or he wouldn't be out here.]
"During patrol I got hit by some strange spell. Or two. JLA have been looking for a counter spell. But that didn't stop all the female members to coo at me like some tiny animal." [Having all the JLA members closed in around him was just awkward. And he was pretty sure he even saw Bruce smile in amusement.] "I'm just going to go back to my room." [Which is probably your cue to stop him before he hides away again.]
"Kind o- no, no it isn't" Again, he didn't mean to make him more upset about it than what he already was, he had had enough of Robin playing hide-and-seek.
It wasn't as if it was his fault anyway, Gotham's villians where known for being, ah... specially creepy and weird. He still had the weird urge to reach for the ears and pet them though- which meant Robin wasn't getting away with barricading on his room away, if Superboy could prevent it
"You're free to laugh. I already got laughed at about it as is." [Although he had a do it and die tone in his voice. And even for a short kid with cat ears, he seemed to be able to pull off the batglare when he was angry like this.
He tilted his head with an eyebrow raised.] "And why not?" [He's suspicious of your intentions. Better be good at convincing him Superboy.]
Even without that look he was giving him, Supes wouldn't be silly enough to take Robin at his words and laugh. The BatRobin glare looked really kind of adorable with those ears on Superboy's eyes. But most of the things Robin did were kind of adorable to him though. He assumed that was because Robin was the younger one. Or something.
"...Well" Superboy wasn't the brightest one, and te fact that he was making up something under pressure didn't help either. "...you could eat before you do?" the others might still take a while to come back anyway.
[It's not normal to think Robin is adorable Supes. And just because he's younger isn't much of a good excuse.
Robin weighed his options. He's kind of tired hiding in the room. And since Superboy already knows now, it wouldn't make a difference. He could easily dash back to his room if the others come back...] "Hm. Why not. It's not like anyone else is in the based." [So he goes back to walking back to the based, that long tail swishing gracefully as he walks. At least he isn't running back to his room yet.]

[He was being very defensive. Much like a cat feeling threatened.
Although he couldn't help it. He's been crushing on the clone for quite awhile, and the last thing he wanted was the other to make fun of him.]
