The mail service Downside is kind of sketchy, but eventually a note arrives at Chainsaw's house. The paper had been folded on itself rather than put in an envelope, and the handwritten address simply reads Chainsaw.

It takes her about a day to work up the nerve, after getting that.

As the chimes of the doorbell fade, she really, really hopes he's not working. That would be too much to deal with at the moment.

He opens the door clean, clothed, and sober. Isn't it nice when things go right?

He reaches out to ruffle her hair.

To forestall anything so embarrassing, she reaches out and pokes him in the stomach.

Chainsaw laughs, catches her hand, kisses it, and pulls her in for a hug.

Somebody's in a good mood.

Startled, she tenses up for a moment -- then wraps her arms around his waist and relaxes with a relieved sigh.

He kisses the top of her head, for good measure.

That was supposed to be another hi, but it didn't make it past the lump in her throat. Oh, well. She leans her head on his shoulder.

"Somebody tell me why the fuck we're standing in front of my door like idiots?" he asks, rhetorically, and steps back to invite her into the house.

"Because we're idiots?"

She catches his hand and returns that kiss he gave her earlier.

He pulls her in, shuts the door behind them, and kisses her on the lips.

She wraps her arms around his neck, relaxing a little further.

Just to see what happens, he bites her lip.

She swats his side, is what happens.
