[ patience. that's what obi-wan would suggest in a situation like this. patience. but, patience was something that anakin skywalker had never been very fond of or good at and now certainly wasn't helping him get any better at it. if anything, it was making his impatience worse. this place was a brick wall, an impenetrable wall the jedi general ( Read more... )

--huh?

[ anakin hadn't anticipated an answer (of any kind) in response to his self-babble, but his answers to the how of the why are given once he spots the journal lying open not a few feet away from him. he pulls it to him with the force, sighing in obvious irritation with the object he considers to be more of a burden than a helpful tool in this place. ]

I'm...fine. Just fine.

[And his tone is hard to miss.] If you say so. I'm sorry to bother you.

I do say so.

[ is his immediate response, but he soon realizes he's snapping at someone who isn't deserving of his temper, as padmé would say. padmé. force, he missed her. more so than he did when he was off in the outer rim fighting. at least there, he had contact with her. ]

...I'm sorry. It's not your fault this blasted thing was open.

Don't be sorry. It's ok. It's my fault. I wouldn't have said anything in the first place if I'd realized it was an accident. These journals take time to get used to, huh?

Yeah... It's pretty primitive compared to what I'm used to.

[She doesn't want to make him angrier, but she figures that maybe if she asks him, it'll take his mind off what's bothering him, if only for a little.] Oh? Are you from the future, then?

[ it's doing that very thing and he's very grateful for the distraction and thus doesn't mind answering the question. ]

I might be? I'm not sure. None of the worlds I've heard of here exist in my galaxy. Like this Earth everyone keeps talking about. Never heard of it until now.

[Good thing she's curious, then, and it'd be ooc if she didn't pick up on the change in his tone.]

You're from another galaxy? Oh wow. What's your planet like? What's the food like?

I probably am. [ he answers honestly, though he can't really say for sure. ] My homeworld is a desert planet called Tattooine, but I haven't lived there since I was a kid. And the food was awful, for the most part.

A whole planet that's a desert? I wonder how that works. And you've been to other worlds? How many? What are they like? I hope their food is better than on Tattooine. [Here, Anakin, have a kind of mangled pronunciation. Alien languages lol. /shot]

The twin suns help. And it's Ta-ttoo-ine.

[ which is said with an odd amount of fondness, despite his general dislike for his homeworld. he can't help but chuckle a bit at the next series of questions, though. ]

Yes. More than I can count. Interstellar travel is common where I'm from. People travel between planets as casually as you walk from one building to the next. I spend most of my time on ships lately. Or did, before this place.

[She made him laugh. Score!]

Ta-ttoo-ine. Is that better?

Do you ever look up and be like 'Oh, I've been to that planet; their food is terrible' or ''I've been there; it's too cold for my tastes but the food makes it worth going back?' It must be so cool, to be able to do that. And if you spend a lot of time on ships, can you fly them, then?

Much better.

Sometimes. Depends on where it is. If it's an Outer Rim world, I'd rather not step foot on that soil. But, you can usually find the foods of all the worlds of the Republic in some corner or another on Coruscant. And yes, I fly. I just happen to be one the best pilots ever born.

All the food from all over your galaxy in one place?! That must be so awesome! Wait, how big is Coruscant? [pronounced better than Tattooine, at any rate]

R-really? Wow! I wish I could learn to do that. You must have a lot of really cool stories. You'll have to tell me sometime.

Oh, that reminds me! I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Yako Katsuragi.

Coruscant is a planet. The core world of my galaxy, the capital of the Republic. It's a city-planet, the whole planet is one giant city. I don't think big is an appropriate enough word for that.

Like you wouldn't believe. [ just like that story he'd told buffy that was actually reality-- not that he'd ever admit to that. even here, he kept his wife secret. ]

I'm Anakin. Anakin Skywalker.
