Does anyone here like ice skating? If anyone would like to, come drop by the big pond on deck three. I'll be there for most of the day, but... Give me at least twenty minutes to freeze it over.

And if you don't have skates, don't worry. I can whip those up too! [Be careful Katara, pace it so you don't wear yourself out.]

[She had listened to the other posts before chimming in.]

What's ice skating?

You've never been ice skating? [Her voice is incredulous]

It's.. Like. You skate around, on ice. It's really fun; you should stop by and I can show you!

I don't know what the word skate means ... there isn't much ice where I'm from ...

If it's fun, I'll give it a try. I just learned how to swim ... that was okay. Water's not really my thing ...

Deck 3 you say? I'll be right there!

Alright! I can teach you; it's easy~! [Well for you, Katara.]

The water is frozen, too. So you're not really in it, but on it.

Ah, well ... I'm fine with being in it. Just not under it ... I guess it's only natural that I be afraid of it a little.

[She spent some time dressing warmly. At least she put on some jeans and a sweater before heading up to deck 3.]

I can understand that.

[Katara will be there, skating around in nimble little figure eights, the bottoms of her boots coated in blades of ice; makeshift skates. Whenever Kate shows up, Katara will skate right over, beaming a grin.]

[Kate had never seen someone do what Katara was doing before. Sure, iceskating existed on her world, just not anywhere where she was from. They were far too close to the jungle and the desert for that.]

Wow ... you did all this? I can hardly do anything on that scale with my magic ... you must be quite powerful.

[She skids her skates to a stop in front of the woman, grinning sheepishly.]

W-Well, it's not too hard. [Tiring, maybe, but not too bad.]

I can play my music a bunch ... but my fire's real hard to maintain ... This, that's impressive.

[She looked down to the skates.]

So those are iceskates? Are they always made out of ice?

[Kate giggled.]

[Katara wasn't sure what she meant by that first bit, but she waves it off mentally none the less.

Her question makes her laugh.]

W-Well, normally they're made out of.. something else? Wood doesn't work too well, and I guess you could use metal, but... [It's not common where she's from.] Or just shoes.

I saw a book on skates in the library, so I modeled these after them. Look.

[She reached down, waving her hand across the blade; it melted right off, freezing smoothly into the rink below. And then she reverted the process, basically working backwards-in rewind-and remade the blade of ice.]

Like that.

Wow ... you benders are like sorcerers from my world. It looks so natural ...

It gets a little tiring, here on the boat, after a while. Unfortunately. [She muttered the last bit]

Normally I can go for however long with my bending. What are your sorcerers like back home?

Same if they don't push themselves. The energy comes from within us; if you don't tax the source, it is endless.

So you're from the same world as a few others here? Zuko was showing me a bit of his fire work ... I've been trying to learn more myself. If you don't mind me saying, you seem young to be this good. Is that normal?

[Katara's face burns with a blush.]

Ah, I'm not-- I'm still learning, so-- T-Thanks. [Er, um.] I've been practicing for a while now, though. I guess.. There are a lot of kids back home who know the Bending arts...

As good as you? When I was your age, I could barely do any magic. Mostly adults would do whatever I asked ...

Really? Was it just.. Hard to learn?
