Personality: Jabu is an asshole. He has no tolerance for people either weaker or stronger than him - around the former he's a bully, and around the latter he tends to posture, trying to win respect that it's painfully obvious isn't due. He never got a lot of respect growing up, so he doesn't really know how to give or receive it gracefully. The one thing he really understands is fighting, having been raised into it from earliest childhood, so he's very competitive in everything he does. Arguments with him tend to go on long past the point of stupidity, while fights end only when he can no longer lift his arm to deliver a blow. His sense of humor tends to be derisive and he can't control his temper. He's spent a long time building up an image of toughness, and he holds to it. He prefers to make his first impression one of blatant intimidation. He'll let his guard down a little around people he knows extremely well, and he has a great deal of trouble keeping up his image around young women (this goes with the "unicorn" part of his name), but for the most part, he makes sure that everything about his appearance suggests belligerence.
He's not a nice guy by a long shot, but he's not evil, either. Jabu was always taught to fight to protect peace; slightly paradoxical, but still an ideal he embraces wholeheartedly. Admittedly, though, he's not above bending rules when victory's in sight. He's not kind, but neither is he needlessly cruel. If someone he knows is in real trouble, he won't hesitate to help them, and a large part of his sullenness is just more posturing to cover up the fact that he is capable of caring for the people around him. Though he hardly gets along with any of them (…really none of them), he’s loyal to the other Saints, who are really the only family he’s ever had. He fights with them endlessly and can’t be assed to cooperate when he’d rather compete, but when something truly important is on the line, he’ll fight fiercely in their defense.
He's excellent in a straightforward fight, but has trouble thinking outside of the box, strategy-wise - he's totally mismatched against any enemy who uses deception to win a fight. He's pigheadedly stubborn; once he makes up his mind about something, he doesn't change it, even when he's very clearly in the wrong.
The word that sums Jabu up best is "singleminded." He's singleminded in his loyalty to the Kido Foundation; he's singleminded in his dealings with other people; he's singleminded in a fight; he's singleminded in his opinions. Because of his childhood, spent training in a remote location toward a single goal, he's learned to see everything in black-and-white. He's excellent at taking orders - plenty of practice growing up - and while he's stubborn to a fault, he isn't easily corrupted.
Powers/Abilities: By normal human standards, Jabu's incredibly strong, especially in hand-to-hand combat. He holds the title of Unicorn Saint within the organization of fighters into which he was raised, a distinction only achieved after years of intensive training. He fights using the techniques taught him there, with the sacred Unicorn Cloth that chose him for his efforts.
This armor is his main weapon - it was the reward for surviving the Foundation's training and is his most precious possession. It's made of a rare and powerful metal and draws on his inner strength (or Cosmos) for its power. It improves his attacking power and is nearly unbreakable (this helps makes up for the fact that it is purple and unicorn-themed). It covers Jabu's chest and shoulders, forearms, legs, pelvis, and head; the helmet is shaped like a horse's head and has a horn. It is not in any way dignified armor, but it's incredibly useful in a fight, and Jabu worked half his life for the distinction of wearing it, so he does not care how stupid it looks.
The power in the armor allows Jabu to tap into his Cosmos and use more powerful attacks when he's wearing it. He only breaks it out in an emergency, but in it he's a very formidable foe. When it's not in use it stays in a silver box, carved with the symbol of the unicorn and with two straps for transportation of the armor. The box will mend small chips, dents, and cracks in the armor when the armor's inside it.
Jabu is a powerful hand-to-hand fighter even without the armor, and is a decent shot though he prefers to solve problems with his fists.
