History: Dahlia is the ex-wife of Harry Mason in the alternate Silent Hill universe that Shattered Memories takes place in. From several echo messages found at Midwich high, it can be assumed that Harry and Dahlia met in high school and attended prom together, and presumably married young. In 1983 Dahlia gave birth to a daughter that they named Cheryl, and she and Harry were loving parents. However, when Cheryl was 7, Harry and Dahlia's relationship became strained, and they separated (though it can be inferred that they did not officially divorce, since Harry and Dahlia both continued to wear their wedding rings). Harry left Cheryl with Dahlia and went off on his own. The events that follow are those that became reality in the bad ending of the original Silent Hill game; Harry died in a car crash not long after leaving Dahlia (though in Silent Hill, Harry's wife died four years previously and was named Jodie, while Dahlia was the mentally unhinged mother of Alessa Gillespie. The only thing that remains the same is Harry's death). Dahlia and Cheryl were both crushed by Harry's death, and Cheryl's memory of her father became skewed. She came to see him as a hero and her mother as a villain, though eventually depending on the ending she can have a breakthrough and realize the reality of her father's death and mother's role.
Though Dahlia has a "real" self, there are several possible incarnations of her that Harry spends the majority of Shattered Memories with, all with varying appearances and personalities, so a lot of my characterization of Dahlia is kind of a stitched-together Frankenstein monster of all her separate identities, including her real-life one. Forgive me if it gets a little weird.
Also, since Shattered Memories is pretty much complete AU, the events of the original Silent Hill game don't apply to this Dahlia at all. She'll have no idea what you're talking about if you bring up Alessa or The Order XD but feel free to have fun with it.
