"There are 14.7 pounds of pressure per square inch being exerted on you right now from the earths atmosphere. The amount of pressure is determined by how many square inches there are to you! At any rate, there are tons of pressure pushing against you right now. What keeps you from being crushed to death? There is a corresponding pressure being exerted from within you that neutralizes the out side pressure.
