So as I mentioned in my last post I am jobless and broke. I am therefore desperately searching for a way to make some cash and I haven't quite given up on the dream of spring break just yet. I've diligently checked Craig's list everyday for postings, specifically related to the restaurant industry. Here are some things that irk me about this process.
Some of them give you slight details about a job and then require you to e-mail them for further details. When I responded to a request for servers, I got a reply within two days. The e-mail started off with the sentence "This may not have been what you were expecting when you responded to our ad, but read on!" and then continued to talk about some bullshit internet marketing thing. Fuck you for baiting.
At other times, I'll see a great listing from someone seeking servers. When I check back later in the day (I'm talking a matter of hours, not days) the listing is completely gone.
This one aggravated me most of all. There was a legitimate restaurant ("Lone Star Steaks") that put up on ad one day. ON THAT VERY DAY I drove to the restaurant and asked about the positions. I was told that they had already filled many spots earlier that week, but I was offered that restaurant mantra that seems to be really popular these days - "Well we're not hiring right now, but we are accepting applications!" Then why did you post an ad on Craig's list TODAY asking for servers?
GRRRR. I'm a hard worker who wants a fucking job! Fuck you economy! And fuck you Craig's List. And most of all, fuck all of you who put up fake job ads.
