238, late morning

May 04, 2006 13:32

Angel blissfully had no more morning classes. He'd tried to sleep in, but a far too awake puppy had kept that from happening.

But the sun was up, he couldn't go outside, Sean had been walked, and Angel could get a nap.

After waking up and getting dressed (and being incredibly thankful for her alien laundry-fu), Isabel took a walk down to the second floor. A visit with Angel would be nice and perhaps Sean would like to go out and enjoy the fresh afterwards.

Stopping outside the room, she knocked on the door.

It was a sign of how lost in his thoughts he'd been that Angel didn't hear Isabel walk up before knocking on the door.

He tried to shove everything down under the stoic. "C'min."

"Hey stranger," Isabel said as she came in and shut the door behind her. "I haven't seen you since the art heist." She stopped and studied Angel for a moment. "Is every okay?"

Angel rubbed his face. "Tired. Just woke up from a nap."

It was possible he didn't sell the casualness of that as much as he'd like.

In the meanwhile Sean trotted up to say hi to Isabel.

Isabel took a seat at the foot of the bed and absently reached down to scratch Sean's ears. "You're not supposed to still be tired when you wake up from a nap. But then again, we both know that naps around here aren't always restful," she said.

Sean leaned into the touch so hard he tumbled over.

"Been having nightmares," Angel admitted. "Actually, Dream says they're visions."

"Silly puppy," she said softly as she took advantage of the tumble and scratched his belly.

Isabel shuddered a bit at the mention of Dream. Detention was proabably her least favorite memory at Fandom. "Visions? Of what?"

"My life in other dimensions," Angel said. "My future."

Sean was forgotten as Isabel thought about what Angel said. "But nightmares? Why?"

"People dying," Angel said. "Over and over again. Because they helped me. Because they stood by my side."

"That's bullshit!" she said fiercely. "I really don't know much prophecies or visions or any of that. But that sure as hell doesn't sound like anyway to encourage a champion. I don't get it. Why? Why would they do that to you?"

"Maybe to warn me," Angel said. "Remind me who this destiny belongs to."

"So what? You're supposed to do it all on your own?" Isabel's spent a lot of time thinking about her own destiny, it still scares her but she knows that when the time comes she'll have Max and Michael right there with her. She couldn't imagine facing a future where she had to do it on her own.

Angel shrugged. "Only one vampire with a soul. Makes sense to me."

Isabel shook her head, "Well it doesn't to me. Aren't friends, family? Aren't they what you fight for? I would think it would be too easy to loose track of that if you did everything on your own." She sighed and pushed back her hair. "If I didn't have this whole world of my own to help save, I'd be following you out to LA next year after graduation. I bet you'd be able to use my powers once in a while."

Angel gave her a small smile. "You mean besides for dealing with rebellious laundry machines?"
