"Hey, boy." Logan gave Sean a quick scratch behind the ears and shut the door behind him. "I found out what the Dragon Blade does," he said, not wasting any time.
"Y - no," Angel said, with the stutter of one who remembers his maturity belatedly, if at all. "No ass kicking. ... Or if there's going to be ass kicking I do it first. I think I've earned dibs."
To Logan, he asked, "Did you find out how it worked?"
"He can pull blades out of his ass as far as I can tell," Angel said. "What's to stop him from just throwing one at me? No, we can't tie him down and beat him black and blue," Angel said, immediately turning to Callisto and replying as though that'd been what she was just about to say.
"No killing!" Angel said, in the same tone of voice he used to tell Sean that the curtains were not for chewing on. "There will be no killing, beating, maiming, kicking, punching, or ruining of anyone's clothes."
If the last items on the list hadn't been brought up by anybody but Angel himself, well, the vamp had an imagination too.
"He's got a soul, same as me," Angel said. "He deserves a chance."
"He's had his chance, looks like he's using it real well," Callisto said. "All the people who've tried to kill me had souls, if I've given them the same number of chances I'd be dead."
"The only people he thinks he's supposed to kill are me and his girlfriend," Angel said. "We know he's not going to kill Phoebe and for me - well now I know to avoid that blade he's got."
