Next month I have to speak at Worldcon on the 'Second Golden Age of Children's Fantasy 1970 - 1990.' Is this an accepted notion? It would seem to me that the first golden age would be late Victorian and the second the 1930s. But assuming the period 1970 to 1990 was a golden age, which authors do you think the organisers are refering too? Ursula K. Le Guin jumps out, and she is sufficiently great to be a golden age in herself, but I wonder who else is meant. Was Susan Cooper writing then? Alan Garner? I shall do some research, but in the meantime would be very interested to read your comments.
