(no subject)

Thought of the moment: Ideally, with most expressions of art, the most important goal should be that of irreverence. This is not due to the lack of value within the subject, but due to the overflowing of value within it. In the end, the things we take seriously take on a form of religion to us, relying upon faith and intangible unspeakables to become the things we see in them. This overextension of the subject makes it unreal and thus, laughable. Yet it is this laughablilty that in turn fulfills our more-than-human needs. That something tangible can fulfill that which is not tangible defies everything we are taught and have come to know. The only response to this? Laughter and derision. Which is not a bad, but merely a necessary thing in order to come to terms with; something that is more than what we can come to know. So by finding art silly and unimportant, one comes closer to understanding its real importance in the long run; that something must be unimportant to truly be important.
