Slick

From Doug (yes, I'm spreading his sick propaganda):

Slick was started to offer a fertile gathering ground for fetishists, to encourage a healthy, consensual exploration of erotic variation. Currently a floating dance party held at different locations and dates and given to altered manifestations from one event to the next, Slick aims to bring together an imaginative crowd of personalities that creates its own character. Our regular offerings have included art displays, original performances, dramatic fashion shows, danceable music of a darkly erotic vein, a chaperoned playspace, sales of fetish-related wares and services, and embellishments to perpetuate the proper mood, whether it be decor or human scenery. In planning events, we like to work with as much of the existing fetish community as possible - clothing and accessory retail and designers, artists, performers, magazines, etc.

As usual, the term 'fetish' is open to interpretation, but we like to think we know it when we see it - extravagant, overtly sensual, off-kilter, over-board, kitschy, or deadly elegant - the more room for improvisation the better. Following an early literal definition, a fetish is a stand-in for a larger-than-life ideal, something that invokes more than its mundane physical presence - something more than a naked body that makes the body seem almost irrelevant. For our events, the usual culprits should be present - corsets, leather, vinyl, PVC, latex, rubber, fishnet, dark velvet, lush make-up, bondage in appearance and in practice, androgyny, period erotica, long gloves, spiky shoes... Slick is a fashion-oriented affair - not a sex club. Yes, that's subjective, but so is fetishism.
