"Of All the Things I've Lost, I Miss My Mind The Most"
Who: Broken Master, Broken Doctor, Broken Handy
When:  Sometimes after "Attempt Number Ten"

It was a beautiful day.  Absolutely beautiful.  The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and though he'd passed two duplicates of himself on a stroll in Londontown, he hadn't a care in the world.  This ( Read more... )

John signed and hopped the fence. Once again, he barely had to try to get over. Being an assassin had it's perks. He didn't want the Doctor upset, his doppelganger had been through enough already.

"Master, don't you already have a bear?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He really didn't want to have to wrestle a lion either, even if he was probably quite good at it.

Being a companion of Time Lords was tough work!

Oh, great! "John!" Now they were both inside! "Don't get eaten! I'll never find out who I am!" he whined, banging on the glass. "Oh, would you all stop screaming!" Too bad he did not take his own advice there.

His hands in his pockets, he tried to figure out if he happened to be in possession of some alien artifact of awesomeness, but all the Doctor managed to pull out was a bit of wire, some Canadian money, a bit of green lint, a nail file, an polaroid of himself and the Master with a white kitten, handcuffs, chewing gum, a battery, three remote controls, a penlight, two square buttons, a jar of fireflies, two snail shells, and some grass that smelled like apples.

None of that was going to--

A song filled his head a moment later and the Doctor paused, hands once more to the glass as his brown eyes lit up. "Master! She's ready!" It was the TARDIS calling. He knew the Master heard her too.

The Master pulled a face as the hand landed beside him, just in time to see the lions prowling not far from them. He was about to suggest he and John took the lions on and tackled them when he heard the same noise as the Doctor.

Closing his eyes, he smiled slightly before sighing. So the lion would have to wait till they had their TARDIS and a working Doctor who knew who he was. The Master made two failed attempts to scamper back up the wall before he used the hand, once again, as a booster. It was his best use after all.

"Hurry along Handy-hand before the lions eat you, we have a TARDIS to see and--" The Master stopped as he realised the Doctor wasn't himself. How could they go and imprint their TARDIS if the Doctor didn't know him. It was their TARDIS and as far as he was concerned, this wasn't his Doctor right now.

"You can't go, not until you remember!"

John hopped the fence so he was back on the same side as the Doctor and the Master. He crossed his arms over his chest. So the arguing would begin anew? Just what he needed.

"Maybe not," he pointed out. "Maybe being near his TARDIS, touching it, will help him bring back his memories? At any rate, maybe you can talk him through the process."

It had been a long time since John had imprinted on Goldie. He missed her so much, but he couldn't deal with it all.

The Doctor rolled his eyes with a happy smile and nudged his forehead to the Master's. It was funny with a half imprinted TARDIS could do when she was ready to meet her pilots. The Doctor was not purged completely of the mess of pills he had eaten -- which blocked out his memories in the first place -- but he remembered enough to know the Master.

The song had broken through those mental blocks. How could it not when Doctor and Master were linked?

Sure, the lions were not pouncing on Handy -- to the horror of the on lookers around the zoo -- but the Doctor was paying no attention, his mind connected physically and mentally to the Master.

Sure the mind was more muddled than usual and there were a lot of gaps, but he was remembered what was most important. Their TARDIS and the link. The Master smiled slightly as he rested his head to the Doctors, enjoying the soft song of the TARDIS.

"We have a TARDIS to imprint," the Master prompted, moving away from the Doctor and seeming much more content now he was known.

He wasn't happy that the Doctor had forgotten him, he didn't even know how it had even happened but he did know that it hardly mattered right now.

The lions were probably more scared of John than he was of them. He was staring at one of them, teeth bared, and then he moved with the other two, ready to head to the TARDIS.

Unfortunately, that meant going back to Goldie and potentially running into Rose. He could run away quickly if need be, and she was so pissed at him that it didn't matter regardless.

"We're going then...let's go."

And here I thought we'd get to see some blood and gore! Haha notsoperfect10 August 13 2010, 15:51:01 UTC
The Doctor smiled up at his hand and shook his head.

"Master's not allowed in Goldie. Rose will shoot you on sight. I'll go and get the coral and we'll meet at the park?"

He was so exciting. Oh so excited. His heart was already racing with the sheer thought of a TARDIS again...one that started off as his. Their's. It was almost like having a baby!

"Don't let Rose touch the coral!" the Master warned, not wanting her imprinted or even a part of his TARDIS. He still didn't like her, well not that one anyway. That one blamed him for everything the Doctor did wrong, the other Roses were almost barely tolerable, though dancing-Rose was fun, she made cookies.

"We'll be at the park, try to hurry up," the Master was as impatient as the Doctor, he didn't like waiting around when he knew they had their own newly made TARDIS to play with.

Leaping onto Johns back, he wrapped his arms around the itch hands neck and smirked. "To the park Johnny the hand!"

Luckily John didn't give a shit about his dignity. He grinned at the Master clinging to his back and put his arms out like an airplane, sprinting his way to the park.

If he was going to look silly, at least he was going to have fun doing it!

Halfway to the park he put his arms down and held the Master's legs to his sides as the Time Lord was slipping off. When the arrived he stood there, ignoring the strange looks he was getting. It wasn't his problem that they had issues. There was nothing wrong with having fun!
