Then her wings had come back. Her real wings, which definitely weren't supposed to be there--but were nevertheless quite welcome. They were soft.

[ The mop handle doesn't even hit the floor before Meiling has spun around, bolted the corner, and picked Flandre up. ] Flandre!

But--but! Meiling did something different this time! She moved almost too fast for Flandre to see and picked herr up and called her name.
The little vampire doesn't bother stopping a delighted squeak.]

[...though her new wings do flutter a bit sluggishly on the way up, to retain her balance.]

Outside, she takes in a deep breath of air and looks around. ] Mm, looks pretty clear...

Can we go farther, Meiling?
[Following the gate guard's example, Flandre also took a big breath. It smelled like leaves and cold outside, though it didn't feel very chilly at all.]

Now hold on tight for a bit, okay? [ Once she gets confirmation, Meiling springs up onto an outside table, then the low edge of a roof, and then lands on the highest point of the campus. ] Whew! Okay, we should be good to start from here.

She strains to peer over the edge and begins to beat her wings, just like before. Though this time she actually means to do something other than gesture with them. The vampire even lifts up off her heels slightly, which makes Flandre redouble her efforts.
...but all that flapping around before had worn some of her energy away, and she wasn't exactly good at that endurance thing. She starts to tire, with some of that excitement giving way to fatigue.]

But she does know what Flandre wearing herself out looks like, so she decides that a little boost can't hurt. She tightens her grip on the vampire's waist a bit and starts to lift her up off of the roof. ] Here, let me give you a little boost. Maybe you just need a little more air!
