Vimes storms through the palace and flings open the door of Vetinari's office without knocking. He stomps across the room and leans over the Patrician's desk. "What the hell do you think you're playing at?" he growls, staring the man in the eyes.

He glances at him, then looks back down at his paperwork. "Vimes. I don't think I asked to see you."

"No?" His eyes are hard. "I talked to Ali."

[lordofhiscity]

"Indeed?" He manages not to show a reaction to that.

His eyes narrow. "Again, what the hell are you playing at?"

[lordofhiscity]

His eyes narrow as well. "It is none of your concern."

[notsirsam]

"It is my concern. You've hurt someone close to me."

[lordofhiscity]

"Hurt?" he said softly, his eyes finally fixing on Vimes and staying there.

[notsirsam]

"She was very upset when I spoke to her," he growls.

((Though, of course, that may just have been due to Vimes's charming approach. *Snickers*))

He closes his eyes, a flash of pain crossing his features.

He waits silently.

[lordofhiscity]

"You want to know what game I'm playing, Vimes?" he murmurs. "Well, so, indeed, would I."

"What the bugger's that supposed to mean?" He glares fiercely.

[lordofhiscity]

"That I, for once, have no bloody idea what I am doing, Vimes." Is that a growl? Possibly.

[notsirsam]

"Ha." He straightens from his looming position. "Well, I'll tell you this. Do it again, and I'll personally rip both your arms off."

[lordofhiscity]

His eyes narrow. "Stay out of my business, Sir Samuel."

[notsirsam]

"Sir," he growls.
