So wait, are folks' fathers actually showin' up today, or is this just another of those hallucinations the City here seems so fond of?
Either way, guess ol' Raven's sittin' this one out.
[and right on cue, it seems that someone's shown up at the door. you can hear the sound of him moving his chair back to get up and go to check; his voice is obviously raised but he's further from the device now so it isn't too loud.]
Ya forget yer keys again, kid? I swear, if ya--
[there's the sound of the knob turning and the hinge creaking a little as he opens the door, and then he goes silent. when he finally speaks, his accent is completely gone and his voice sounds a little hoarse, like his throat has gone dry.]
No, sir.
[only silence comes through, though it's clear that he's speaking with someone.]
I'm not him anymore.
[a much longer silence.]
I did my best, though I understand that's hard to believe.
[...]
No, sir, it just turns out that the world doesn't care how hard you try.
[another silence, and though you can hear him getting ready to say something, the recording times out before he can reply again.]
