Once upon a time, life began along the delta of the river Nile. Humanity was young, and so were the gods themselve. Geb and Nut had given birth to five godlings--Osiris, Isis, Nephtys, and Set. For a time, things were happy. It didn't last. For Osiris was always loved most greatly by those little humans, and Set, who's storms and desert sand scared them, was only revered by those wanting a favor from him. For protection from his supposed wrath. He did not resent them for it--humans were young, and foolish, and stupid. They didn't know any better. But he did resent Osiris. So he killed him. It didn't go as well as he'd hoped. His sisters recollected Osiris' scattered pieces and revived him, making him king of the underworld, and Horus attacked him, leading to a long war that severely wounded them both. He was judged the one at fault--not something he agreed with, Horus had attacked him, it wasn't his fault, and became reviled in the eyes of those tiny humans. His life was spared by Re's intervention, and so he protected the sun god, and continued releasing his storms across the desert. Slowly, Humanity turned to new gods. Slowly, Philemon and Nyarlyhotep came to make their bet. Set agreed to help Philemon--he wanted to see if it was possible, and no one really believed in him anymore, anyway. It was something to do, and chaotic he might have been...Nyarlyhotep annoyed him. So he became a persona, flitting through minds, indistiguishable from others like him, until-- A natural-born Wildcard. Interesting. In the Mall, caught between all dimensions, it was easy to squash her own true persona and take it's place, manifesting in her head. Perhaps she could help him get a body again. And at least it would be interesting.
