This has been a pretty interesting day. Andrew and I had an awesome adventure without meaning to. After school I was supposed to have a little band practice with the old Alphea guys at Dyl's, but he had a track meet so it was canceled, leaving me with some precious free time that I am finding harder and harder to come across. So I turned to my trusty pal Andrew, and after a short conversation we decided that it would be awesome to start up our little acoustic project. The plan was as follows:
1. Walk to Tony's
2. Grab Tony's guitar and drive to Mother's
3. Eat some subs
4. Write some music at Andrew's
Step 1 went without a hitch. The following is the story of the 2 hours it took us to get from my house to Andrew's.
As we were driving from my house down to Mother's for subs. I realized that I had just about no gas left in the tank. So we stopped at the Vasco on Main St., where I ran into Blake (he was fueling up as I was pulling in). I was waiting for a free pump when one opened up, but on the wrong side of the pumps for my car's tank. So I decided to be impatient and back up into the spot. I ended up WAY too close to the pumps, but whatever. I tried to put an even $10 of gas in. Naturally I stopped around $9.90 and squeezed the last cents out... $9.90, $9.95, $9.98... $10.01!!! Without a doubt the most depressing thing ever. Especially because it happens to me all the time. Anyway. I pull out of Vasco and once again set my sights and my hunger on Mother's.
Approaching the intersection of Main and Franklin, I happened to look over at the bus stop in front of the oriental rug store. What did I see, you ask? I saw a very sad looking Rachel waiting on a very sad looking bench in very sad looking weather. So I pulled over and offered Rachel a ride to work. I was willing to put my hunger on hold for a friend. So I drove her to Wakefield in the rain and Andrew and I came back. Another 30 minutes gone.
Andrew and I hardened our determination to make it to Mother's at this point. That's a lie; we actually gave up totally, deciding to just go straight to Andrew's, and grab a bite there if need be. We were so close... so close. On Vinton Street I caught sight of a familiar face, and heard Andrew say 'oh look it's Dave Crespo'. With the second glance I knew it was him... curly hair and all. I immediately banged a three point turn and stopped to talk to an old friend. I ended up also giving him a ride to work at the car wash. We talked on the way about school and the sisters Hanley. I guess that Morgan is kinda out of control now. I thought so all along but Dave confirmed it. Caitlin told him that Morgan's been bad lately, I guess she drives drunk and stuff. She is not at all the person I once knew, and it's a lot easier to not miss her that way. I don’t even know why I still care, but I do, in fact I’m a little bit worried about her. Anyway, the story….
It all led up to this. On Trenton Street I see a car pulling out of the YMCA parking lot- it is Jack Finlay in his SUV. Jokingly I beep and pretend to yell and flip him off. He proceeds to show me the funniest human reaction I have ever seen. He contorts his face deliberately, conveying a sense of anger never before seen on this planet. His window down, he waves his hands frantically, slamming to side of the car and grabbing his hair like a madman on a rampage. He convulses his body back and forth, causing his flowing mane of golden locks to create a fury of blonde chaos. I tell you, I laughed so hard that I could not even drive. Andrew was in hysterics. I think that all the events of the day were fate: someone wanted us to see that, maybe God himself. Ridiculous.
Then Andrew and I wrote a song. Whew. The End.
Now I have to grab a bite to eat and than go get a tux with Kristen.
