Vacations are always weird and interesting times. Not only do we have more free time to do what we want, but without school, homework, after school stuff, and the rest of that stuff that you do without over vacation, your mind is free to wander. That always leads to strange things. I had pretty low hopes for this week, especially considering last year, and all the crap I was supposed to do. This vacation was much better than I thought. In every way. And while I usually write about my 'revelations' and 'lessons learned', I got something out of this vacation. I have a much larger appreciation for all of the people around me, and this week showed me just how great my friends are.
No matter which friend it is.
Whether it's the ones you play N-64 with
the ones you rock out with
the ones you party with
the one you call before you call anyone else
the ones you shoot off fireworks with
the one who you've been friends with the longest
the ones who, above all, cares for everyone around
the one who's really just looking out for everyone, when you get down to it
the ones you drive around doing nothing with
the ones you lift with
the one you promised to hang out with but it didn't happen
the ones you haven't spoken to in years
the one you don't know as well as you should
the ones you only see at shows
the one you battle with, sumo style
the ones you have to watch your favorite TV shows with
the one it hurts a little to know
the artsy ones
the funny ones
the strong ones
the crazy ones
or just that kid you like talking to in class.
Appreciate everyone around you.
On that note, I'm gonna watch the closing ceremony of the Olympics tonight, and pretend it's the closing ceremony of the vacation.
Everybody gets a medal.
