My assessment of the game has upgraded from 'mere non-cartoon generic MMO' to 'pleasant grind'. My choice of a Horde character was a guess that PXT types would go for the evil characters, but as it transpires most of them play on the Alliance side. Not that it matters either way - with a limit of 50 characters, 10 on any one, you can switch quite easily and explore lots of options... as long as you're willing to grind it out. Anyway, a Dwarf character called Grunger also exists FYI.
Graphics are actually better than Guild Wars, in my opinion. There are slight annoyances with the mechanics - I miss being able to point-and-click a go-to destination, and having to manually turn to face an opponent is a pain in combat. On the upside, crafting looks as though it could be fun (but again, after a grind).
I'll post more on this nearer the end of my 14 days, by then I should have experience a bit wider area of the gameworld (perhaps even a battleground).
