Aravis had left the door open after she'd pulled the offensively pink items out of her wardrobe, and was carefully pulling plaiting her hair for the day. And contemplating just chopping the whole mess off and being done with it, since it got in the way of everything.

After "breakfast" Isabel remembered she'd promised Aravis she'd fix her clothes, so she headed down the hall.

"Weather like this makes you want to cut it all off doesn't it?" she asked from the doorway.

"I'm from the desert. You'd think I'd be accustomed to it," Aravis said, waving her in. "Good morning."

"Same here. But it's the humidity. It's killer," she replied, stepping into the room. "Good morning yourself. You missed breakfast. Karal cooked."

"Pity. I didn't know he could," Aravis said thoughtfully. "I'll have to claim roommate privileges and make him cook for me another time."

"Um, maybe not," Isabel warned. "Stick to sending him for bagels and baked goods. Trust me."

"What's a bagel?" Aravis wondered.

[izzyalienqueen]

"It's a type of roll, or bread," she explained. "It's chewy and it comes in different flavors. They're great for breakfast."

"So it's best to send him out to get food, rather than rely on him to prepare anything?" Aravis asked with a small smile.

"Given what I saw this morning, yeah. Probably best," Isabel grinned. "But I didn't tell you that okay?"

"It's the same with me," Aravis said with a little smile. "Tarkheenas aren't taught to cook, unfortunately, so I'd not mock him anyway."

"I can give lessons if you're interested," she offered.

[notqueenyet]

"Ooh. It would be nice to be able to prepare food on my own. You really would not mind?" Aravis asked. "I'll probably never use the skills at home, but while I'm here, I'd like to be able to cook for people and so on."

And Aravis's very slight blush was probably pretty indicative of who 'people' meant.

Isabel shook her head and smiled. "Not at all. I like to cook. I can teach you some simple recipes that most people like." And Seely would supply dessert.

"And I will attempt not to set my hair on fire. That was always the concern when we were traveling and someone was to prepare something over a fire," Aravis said solemnly.

"That's less of a worry here," she promised. "The burners on the stove are a little more controlled."

"Good," Aravis said with a small smile. "So, my clothes are pink. You can really change them?"
