[ooc: A lot like the town meeting, I've decided to make the mechanic meeting a comment post. Feel free to include actions if you want, but since the first meeting is for discussion and sharing ideas, we're gonna do this.
Bulma's got the room arranged so that it's a pretty open space, but chairs are scarce and most characters will have to take the floor/sit on things. The auto shop is organized so that spare parts are piled into three large boxes in one corner; there are several tool boxes stacked in the opposite corner. Bulma stands in front of a slightly worn, cracked blackboard. She has a box of old chalk in one hand, and a stack of blueprints in the other, which she hangs up on one side of the board. She leaves the opposite side completely clear.
Feel free to have your character take a seat and input questions, comments and suggestions.]
Right! So, looks like we're all here. I'm Bulma, though I'm pretty sure you guys know that. For the most part, we're here to introduce ourselves and whatever ideas we have to contribute to making this .. place more inhabitable with our skill in building, repair, and technology. I've managed to draw out a few blueprints for my ideas, but don't be afraid to speak up if you have some, too.
For now, we have really limited supply. We have toolboxes that are missing tools, random auto parts that have been left here, and a few things from around the school that've been salvaged--typewriters, work-out equipment, and a few computers that were donated by Vin. We might have to take those apart to do a few things, but I want to try and have at least one completely functioning computer for data storage. I'm gonna get started on that as soon as possible, but until I do, I'm not sure about what functions it can perform. There are a lot of things I'd like to do--I'd like to set up an internet connection, get the word processor running, and maybe do some more research to see what kind of technology this city used before we got here. But all of this stuff is going to have to come in time, so right now, I'm just going to take down ideas.
We have blueprint paper in the corner next to the boxes full of auto parts, so feel free to take one or two of those. They're in short supply, and you're going to have to use what you have to it's fullest. I think it's best that we work on projects and ideas here, rather than in our apartments--or, at least, keep the blueprints locked in here. I think it's safer here in the high school.
We definitely need to talk to the clearing crews about salvaging spare parts, wiring, and other things that might help us. I've seen the odd abandoned car or two, and taking those apart would help us out as well. But, we're not going to be able to do that alone. If anyone's willing to volunteer, I want to have a one of us go in either during or directly after they finish a project, so that we can take what they've managed to save. I'm volunteering!
Speaking of the clearing crews--once we get things rolling, and if we have what we need for it, I wanna start working on constructing really strong barricades for our safe areas--the high school, the police station, and things like that. The clearing crew might be able to help us out with that. The extra protection will help a lot, especially because we're now setting up clinics. Oh! If anyone has any knowledge in medicine-making and chemical mixing, I think we should also try and help the medics out as well.
By the way, I've been told that it'd be best for us to try and teach other people how to do the things we do, too. So, if you find someone willing, bring them along.
Now, I have a ton of ideas as far as what we can do, but since our supply is limited, I want to present this first. It's very, very rough, and until we can get the computer running, I'm not gonna be able to program it properly, but--
[Bulma points to a single blueprint, reaching into her bag and pulling out a small, circular device.]
This is a dragon ball radar. Back where I lived, it was used to detect a certain type of energy that these magical orbs put out, so that the user could collect the dragon balls. I propose that--since there's no way I'm getting home anytime soon, ugh--this device be taken apart and split into three smaller devices. I want to re-program it to sense body heat and the wireless network on our communication devices, then give these devices, which are going to be attached to wristbands like watches, to the clearing crews when they go out to work. They'll return he devices here and we'll keep them safe and upgraded. I think it would help them out, as well as those that are out scouting the city for new safe areas, because it could alert them of approaching danger--or of one of the inhabitants.
The only problem is that some people may not have heir communicators, and that could lead to a major problem. If the device senses body heat, the user would be ready for an attack from a monster, presumably--so I want to find a way to differentiate the monsters from us. That'll take a lot of research and experimenting, so I might have to ask to borrow the science labs as well. Does anyone have any ideas for this?
I have a few other idea in the works, but they're even more rough than this one, so I think I'm done. What about you guys? Do you have anything--any suggestions, any kind of ideas...?
Oh, uhm, let me know your names, by the way! I wanna try and work up a list of available mechanics for future reference.
