While my laptop is being fixed, I've been bored to death. I don't have a job or a computer to soak up my time. I've just been sleeping as late as I can and bouncing back and forth from TV and actually going outside, although it is raining today. Without my laptop, I can't apply for teaching jobs, so I had to put that on hiatus for a few weeks. As far as finding employment in the meantime, it looks like I'm headed back to the temp service to find me a job, even though I've calculated my budget in a way where I won't have to work for months if I don't want to. But, that won't account for unexpected expenditures or anything remotely fun that I would want to do.
I'm not one of those people that are going to have a heart attack and feel cut off from the rest of the world if I don't have a computer. I have a "life" outside of Facebook and the internet and don't desperately need to log on to see my "friends" status updates and notifications. Facebook's a joke anyway. If I wanted to talk to any of my real friends, I would pick up my phone and do so. My life's not interesting enough to post a status update every hour, nor do I care to do so or read the arbitary nonsense from 130 out of 139 friends I don't care about and continually question why they are my Facebook friends.
I still want to do things this summer. I don't want to be cooped up inside with no money. I don't want to be cooped up right now, but I'll deal with it in the meantime until I have that service find a job for me (or until soccer starts in a few days). As Joel knows, I applied to be a substitute teacher in Wayne County, and I hope to hear from them soon. I mailed out my application for that job just over a week ago, so I'm not expecting an immediate response. In any event, I never enjoyed being a substitute teacher, and I'd rather find a more stable occupation, especially for the summertime. Substitute teaching's a joke, and if I never do it again, then it won't bother me at all. So, unless I want to turn into one of John's brothers, I better go out and find a job and leave my house.
