2013 Big Events
2013 Big Events
- I rang the new year in, quite literally, dealing with a huge workplace curtailment emergency that began on December 27, 2012 and did not end until January 7, 2013. It was an event that had not occurred prior in over ten years, and had never in history been of such magnitude. But we persevered, and I’m proud to have been a part of the team to fix it. This event ended up defining a majority of what I would end up doing at work for most of 2013.
- Coincidentally, my title promotion at work also kicked in on the first of this year. That’s always awesome.
- Completed my USC Business Management Certificate. It meant class on Saturdays, but they served us delicious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks. And it was company paid for. Woohoo.
- We sold our little autoX miata.
- Paul and I welcomed our second Lotus Exige (S) into our garage home. I call it the Orange Bang. It is…(I think), the fastest car we have owned yet (Really hard to gauge the potential of the Rx-7 I had built, since it was never quite finished…)
- Was part of a near and dear friend’s wedding as bridesmaid, which included two super fun trips up to NorCal for bridal shower festivities and the wedding, and a fun trip down south to SD for a girls’ weekend. Really really happy to have been able to play a part and celebrate as well as witness this big event!
- Ran my fastest half marathon yet @ the OC Half in May. 2:13:17!
- Got CERT certified, and even got to put out a fire during training!
- Had my own wedding this year, and all the crazy things that come along with it - such as:
o a gorgeous engagement photo session that entailed freezing our butts off in the dead of January’s winter on the beach at night,
o having been blessed with two wonderful bridal showers…
1. Having a lovely lunch thrown by my bridal party and mom, surrounded by friends and family and gorgeous décor!
2. Having a second lovely shower thrown by my colleagues at the office, with a silly and sweet slide show to boot!
o Having been even more blessed with three bachelorette parties!
1. An adventurous long weekend in Costa Rica with my bridesmaids, which included rafting, canyoneering, ziplining, hot springs, toad and frog surprises, Godzilla sized ants, a REALLLLY lucky green lizard, and a….rooster. Among other things….
2. A good local night out at the Supperclub thrown by my sister, where I got to celebrate with more friends and extended family. Hey look. You guys got to see me puke. And dance. And typical embarrassing things.
3. A surprise kidnapping of sorts by coworkers, which included some really strange outfits but yet comfortable massages at a spa, a sakebomb, and an interesting comedy club night where I almost got away unscathed, if it wasn’t for the big silly hat and banner I had on…
o A rehearsal dinner and wedding day that went…pretty much perfect. It was quite literally perfect, with an awesome secret surprise from the wedding party. SERIOUSLY. I DO NOT get surprised. And you know. I got to marry my best friend as a bonus
o A honeymoon in Bali. Where we encountered many a wild monkey. Paul even got groomed by one. And we rode an elephant! I even lounged around with one by the water pool. No biggie. And we surfed. And we indulged….and let’s just pretend my silly multiday food poisoning bout never happened.
- I got handed a new, important, long term assignment at work. Which, granted, means a lot more work filled nights, but I am to a certain extent, honored that they’ve entrusted me and have confidence in me with this responsibility
- Paul and I picked up a better and more badass track toy miata!
- We managed to fit some AutoX and track days into the year. As busy as our calendars are, we found new friends with similar passion for this stuff, and it has been an absolute blast to obsess about cars with them!
- Still 27 more days left of 2013. Let’s see what else can happen!
