1. my nephew, Caleb was born on March 12th, 5;18pm. he was a little munchkin at 5lb, 15 oz....and over his first few days...his signs of jaundice got worse and he went back to the hospital for some lamp time. but he's all good and back in his home now. his face is all scrunched up right now, and it reminds me of Benjamin Button - you look like an old man sometimes! Note to self: when Caleb grows up, embarrass him with stories about his scrunched up poopy face, his mongolian mark, his tiny wee wee, and his big ass skull. (that's what aunts are for, right?)
2. doc's diagnosed me with a separated shoulder due to all the fun i had in mammoth. who knows really if it was just the mtn crash that did it, since this shoulder has showed signs of damage for a long time from all the climbing and stuff that's aggravated it over the years....whatever it was, it finally gave. maybe some partial tears in the rotator cup too. so now it hurts time to time, but not nearly as bad as the first week back. the constant pain was enough to make me tear up in frustration, but the chloraxazone was awesome (and knocked me out like a gorilla with a baseball bat). minimum of 4 months rest on the arm. we'll see how things go.
3. march 18 & 19 was a terrible shocker. goes to show you're not really safe anywhere these days. the night of march 17th, around 10:15pm - a coworker from SoCalGas at my office in Anaheim comes in for his shift, and finds one of our CSRs dead with multiple gunshot wounds in his car. The guys a good man, worked for the company for around 7 yrs, was just married last Nov. And then, early March 18th in the morning - another SCG (field superv) was shot dead with multiple shots at his home in Pomona. This guy's been with the company forever too - has a wife and children. The primary suspect was a former SCG worker who resigned in (2007?)......and this guy was found with a self inflicted gunshot wound to his head outside the police station in anaheim on the morning of March 19th. Man, people going postal...and this happening in my own parking lot, by the side of my building. My heart goes out these guys' families. You really don't know when your last day is...its just completely unexpected. Things could have gone down a lot worse. And it makes me so grateful and appreciative to be alive. To be able to live another day and enjoy friends and family.
4. but today is saturday. its March 21st. its a new day. and its going to be a great day. Saturdays are always great days. We're celebrating the birthdays of five awesome friends: Kevin, Bhoumik, Mike, Nolan, and George, tonight @ Busby's East.
