We're really hitting a beautiful stride here. Now that two is almost over, I find myself really appreciating the babies as people, and not just babies. Seeing their minds grasp concepts and language all at once, and utilize that knowledge with no complaint or hesitation is glorious.
Tonight, they helped me make chicken pesto pasta. Dulce came in and asked me what I was doing. I told her. She asked to help. I gave her a spoon. She stirred. I let her taste it. She did and said it was yummy. Then she went and got Lilly (Dulce never does anything without Lilly. This is not reciprocated.) and had her taste it. Then they decided to cook some fish to go with the meal.
Written out, this doesn't seem like anything important.
But, really, it is. To me, anyway. They think, and then they tell me about what they think, and then they learn, and then they apply.
Every day.
Their personalities are solidifying in front of my eyes. Their tastes and desires are reaching beyond their basic physical needs. They have their own aesthetic sense. It's not all competition or by rote.
They think.
I love this.
