Ajax The Grumble

This is Ajax the Critter.
His body is made out of silver.
He is covered in hearts,
And has a passion for the arts.
He also has a pet bird named Mr. Ping,
And won a ribbon in a contest for Singing.
He always loves making new friends, too!
But do not be fooled by what he tells you,
While Ajax seems to be very humble,
He is really a big fat, terrible grumble.
For Grumbles are really the worst kind of critter,
The kind that make you feel bad and turn bitter.
For Grumbles are always putting themselves to a test,
And always end up feeling only second best.
Grumbles always expect things to come the way they planned
As if their happiness were some sort of demand.
For this is exactly the way Ajax is,
He is constantly wishing this life weren’t his.
For Ajax is made out of Silver, not gold
Which constantly makes his heart feel quite cold.
And Ajax only won 2nd place for Singing,
And not being the best is constantly stinging.
Instead of two, Ajax has only one arm, leg, and eye---
And a moth instead of a butterfly.
He has a black crow for a pet, instead of a white dove,
And is having trouble finding real love.
Ajax gets dandelions instead of roses,
Which he thinks grow in awkward poses.
So how can a grumble like Ajax be happy?
When everything in his life seems to be so crappy!?
Well, I guess any critter could understand,
How life is upsetting when it doesn’t go as planned.
But what Ajax and the other grumbles need to realize,
Is that their lives are worth more than any 1st prize.
For some critters have more than just one eye,
But through them can’t even see the sky.
And some critters have two legs like they should,
But aren’t capable of walking when they could.
Some critters don’t even have the choice
Of winning up to second place on their voice.
Some of them can’t even afford silver,
A precious metal to many a critter.
Some are too busy trying to pay for their needs,
That they don’t even have time to admire dandelion seeds.
And some critters are forced to live all alone,
While Ajax is lucky to have friends of his own.
For Ajax and the grumbles need to stop focusing on strife,
And find a new way to live out life.
For if they hope for the best, but expect nothing,
They will be much more content with everything.
For once they do that, silver will finally turn into gold
And their hearts will no longer be so cold.
For every Critter should love what they’ve got,
And simply forget what they have not.
