I've been eating a salad a day for almost 4 months now. My policy is pretty much "grab random things and chuck 'em in a bowl.' As such, I'm pretty sure I haven't eaten the same thing twice. It's pretty cool, it works for me

One school of thought is: pulp = nutrients = good. The other is: no pulp = no energy required to process by body = good.
It is possible to go on several-month-long fasts of just drinking (freshly made, lots of vegetable) juice, and actually get healthier as a result. Your body uses from 10-25% of its energy just processing food, so when that energy is spare, it's used to heal you instead.
Ways to keep it liquid? Well, that's that magical ingredient water that is often useful in times such as these. Also helpful (in terms of getting fats, which raw food tends to be low in) is coconut cream (also adds a yummy base flavour).
I whack goji berries in mine, which I soak first, so that tends to have liquid in.
Oh, and I'd avoid putting more than 2 or 3 apples in - that's about the only ingredient I've found that makes a smoothie go ridiculously gluggy (although admittedly I haven't tried adding concrete yet). Oranges (or other juicy fruit) typically have enough internally to keep the consistency liquid like.
I just buy from a sweet-and-nut shop right across the road. They're generally sold dried, but you just soak them in water for a few minutes and all the flavour pops right out of them.
They actually sell them all over. Health food shops, Asian supermarkets, even regular supermarkets if you're lucky. In the "obscure but healthy" area typically.
They're just one of those superfoods (along with cacao powder/nibs, and some others I can't remember right now). Great antioxidant, etc. You just have to make sure you mis-pronounce them goh-gee, not goh-she, otherwise nobody knows what you're talking about.
currently im just juicing, cos i have access to a juicer. my dinner is carrot, capsicum, cucumber, apple, pear, melon, and ginger juice. a buttload of it. i almost feel more healthy for drinking it! im prolly overdoing it though, and will go orange from the carrots. eek!
when i have convenient blender, ill try smoothie-making. i want banana!!!
while most of my life is not terrifically healthy, i get more exercise than i used to, and have started substituting green tea for a lot of the tea i usually drink.
You will feel better by drinking raw juice. You will feel better by eating more raw fruit/vegetables. You will feel better by eating less dairy, less meat. You'll feel better by exercising more. By loving more.
It's all good stuff. Just take what steps you can, and screw the rest. You wanna eat steak? Do it. Have a beer? Ditto. Spend the day in bed? Hell, why not. Make up for it later.
I reckon we do much, MUCH more damage to our health & wellbeing by sweating our mistakes than we ever do through the mistakes themselves.
i entirely agree. you should know what a champ i can be in the guilt area. but im a hell of a lot happier these days because i think harder about where the guilt comes from. have i done something wrong? by whose standards? the only person i have to measure up to is myself, and im happy to take baby steps. =)
im still going to do shit thats bad for me, but my smokings way down, i dont drink during the week anymore, and i feel pretty ace 80% of the time. and the rest of the time, i take responsibility for the more dodgy choices i make, and dont brood over it. lifes too short.
so, can you drink too much joose?! will i go orange?!
Awesome. That's really great news. And yes, baby steps really are the easiest way forwards. Best way forward, I'd say (excluding us maniacs).
And going orange? A quick google says yes, it is possible, but I'd say if you kept it under 5 carrots a day you'll probably be fine. Check your hands &, uhh, excretions. Those will be the first to let you know if you're overdoing it.

More is better, it's as simple as that.
Do as much as you can, and don't sweat the rest.
