Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?

I can now fully say that on this day I would have a complete knowledge of what Mardi Gras truly is. Not only am I in my second semester of French (yes, Mardi really does mean Tuesday) but it would also have been my second semester in New Orleans.
Mardi Gras is not just about using up all of the eggs and butter in the house, it's not just about having a big send off for Lent and it's not just about drinking. Mardi Gras is a celebration of joy. In today's society, we take everything so seriously. Mardi Gras is a time to express yourself and relax. It's also a time for cultures to come together and experience the true essence of each other. Mardi Gras is a time to unite and be thankful for the opportunity to be merry, and this year sorrowful.
Today would have been my first true Mardi Gras.
