Fourth Target

[In the hangar, Lyle is climbing out of his Gundam. His haro bounces out after him.]

Hey Haro, how'd I do that time?

78%! 78%!

Guess I'm still not as good a shot as my brother was.

That's still pretty damn good. Not everyone can nail four out of every five shots.

Oh hey, I didn't notice anyone was in here.

It was a training simulation, the computers never dodge like a human being does.

You've got a point. It's still pretty good, though. If I tried it, I bet I'd only get half your score!

We stick to what we're good at. I understand your machine focuses on close range combat.

...Does Gurren-Lagann even have any long range weaponry?

Training and trying to surpass your brother in ability? That sounds awfully familiar.

*points at Haro* I see things like this all over the base. Is this your Device or something like that?

I'd rather not be compared to him. But since it seems impossible to avoid it, I'll aim for being compared favorably.

It's a Haro. They're a kind of robot that acts as a general electronic aide. The seem to have some odd recurring peronsality quirks, but overall they're pretty useful.

I see. Maybe I phrased it differently from intended - it's not really about comparing yourself against him. By getting better and better you pay your respect to him, that what he did wasn't in vain. And people who are disrepectful of him should just shut up.
Or that's how it is for me.

Ha, here I go giving my life story to newly met people.
Anyway, devices have personality quirks just like these Haro robots. At least Intelligent Devices do. But they're not just aides, mages use them to fight. So there's enough differences and my guess wasn't even close.

In fact, I can't even imagine this little round robotic body fighting in any way. It's just too cute harmless.

-Setsuna had been keeping a keen eye on Lyle during the simulation, though staying out of sight. When Lyle emerges from his Gundam, he then chooses to reveal himself, ambushing his comrade with a deadpan tone that still manages to be accusatory.-

Your marksmanship needs work.

What do you think I was just doing?

Just playing around in the simulators isn't enough. The real Lockon Stratos... he had a degree of natural talent.

The "real" Lockon Stratos?

Lockon Stratos is a code name. If you want to respect him then use his real goddamn name.
