When he finally gets around to looking, he'll find his new room is almost identical to the one he occupied at Farringham School. A bit smaller, perhaps, but still familiar enough to be a grounding point.
Some differences are easily found - a gramophone (rather modern, at that; designed to use discs rather than cylinders) in the place of a globe, a small selection of records set to the side.
Others will require a fair amount of study - the new books scattered through the shelves, chronicling the history of Earth up to the beginning of the twenty-first century.
