It was like any other day. The long agonizing hours waiting for the school bell to ring, sharing tidbits of the latest gossip in-between classes, a quick trip to the cafe to continue planning for the play. It had all been routine until Rise stepped into the cottage she lived in.
Something was off, even if she couldn't place it at first. There had been no response after announcing that she was home but she eventually chalked it up to Abel having stepped out for a while. The two dogs hadn't seemed as glad at her arrival as well. A whine escaped the Alaskan Malamute's muzzle as it slowly approached her.
Tucking the hem of her skirt between her legs, she brought herself down to Noireau's height; ruffling the animal's fur. It only garnered her another whine. Biting her lip, she pulled herself back on her feet in search for the smaller dog.
She eventually found her scratching against the door leading to Abel's room on the cottage's second landing. A yip resonated in the hall before Sam turned to face Rise. Hesitantly, she picked up the dog and made her way down to the living room. Grabbing her Dreamberry out of her bag, she looked through the contact list. It didn't take long for her to see that Abel had no longer been in the dream world.
Rise opened her eyes after falling asleep on the couch, Sam curled up on her lap and Noireau resting at her feet. It had only been a few hours since she had found out of Abel's disappearance yet the feeling of loneliness already haunted her in her sleep. It didn't help that it wasn't long since Harley had left Somarium too.
She let out a sigh, blinking back tears as she stroked Sam's fur. Casting her eyes towards the discarded Dreamberry, she reached for it and turned the device off.
