Warnings: Minor Persona 4 spoilers, if any.
Effects: (optional) A sense of longing and loneliness throughout the dream.

It was pitch black at first, devoid of any sound or smell. Rise looked around before taking a tentative step forward. The ground had seemed solid enough and she took one more step just to reassure herself that she wouldn't simply fall through. She wasn't sure where she was going or if there was an end to the path but that didn't stop her from moving on.

A cackle suddenly echoed through the darkness. Rise jumped at the sound. "Who's there?" Her question fell on deaf ears.

She continued pushing forward, when blurred images began appearing at her sides. First had been of Yukiko-senpai and the short time they had spent together when she had first arrived in Somarium. Then it had been Teddie when he had promised that he wouldn't leave her. Another image was of Abel-san when he had first welcomed her into his home. Many others followed some of friends home, others of those she had met in this strange world.

All the emotions of those times came back to her. But together with it, a sense of sadness. They had all been people who had disappeared from this world. Whether they had gone home or not, she could never be sure. Nevertheless, it didn't help in easing the pain. The joy was momentary complained to the sadness because of their departure.

"They never cared about you."

Quickly, Rise looked up. She knew that voice. It had been hers. But she would never say anything like that, at least not out loud. They did care for her, they had been her friends even if it was for the short amounts of time she was able to spend with these people. But if it wasn't her, it just had to be--

Another laugh rang through. "If they really did, they wouldn't have left!"

Her shadow.

Despite her better judgement Rise turned... slowly, carefully only to stare at herself. The only difference had been her eyes. Instead of the usual warm brown pools, they had been a piercing yellow.

"You're just fooling yourself saying that you're all friends, that it would be nice to be together." Its tone was taunting, as if it really knew everything. From the things that she had said out loud to whatever she had been bottling deep inside. "What a joke! You just want them to be around because you're afraid of being left here on your own. You're nothing but a selfish brat!"

This shouldn't have surprised her, but it did anyway. Rise hadn't wanted them to leave but she knew that they couldn't help it. That this kind of thing was beyond their control. Beyond her own control. She opened her mouth to reply only to find that nothing as coming out. Not a word. Not even a whimper.

Her shadow simply smirked at her. "What's wrong?"

She blinked, grabbing for her throat but still nothing came. She had wanted more than anything to admit that she was feeling selfish, that she hadn't wanted them to leave. She couldn't help but think that after all. But maybe if she could say it then he shadow would leave just like it had last time. That's how it worked, right?

"Cat got your tongue?" The shadow laughed and continued to do so until--

Rise woke up to a start but didn't immediately get up after the dream. Instead, she lay in bed for a few moments more, reaching for the Dreamberry minutes after it had been broadcast. Why was it that her shadow had come back to her. Even if it was simply in a dream, why now?

Finally, she turned to face her Dreamberry and scanned through the contacts list for her friends, acquaintances. A gasp escaped her lips as soon as she realized that someone had been missing. Tears welled up in her eyes as she opened her mouth to utter a single word. "Senpai..."
