The sky was overcast, drops of rain poured from the heavens to form ever-growing puddles as it hit the asphalt. Colors of dull blue and gray tinted the clouds as it gathered in a alluring painting of serenity despite the what most would consider depressing weather. The pitter-patter of water caused many to hide, whether in their homes, in offices or in various shops that littered the area. Anything to escape from the rain.
A red umbrella was the only contrast to the cloudy atmosphere, spinning clockwise in slow careful circles before stopping completely and turning in the opposite direction. A girl with reddish-brown hair held on to the umbrella, her touch just light enough to let it rest on her shoulder but tight enough to keep it from slipping from her grasp. She continued walking down the sidewalk to an unknown destination, a smile on her face and a skip in her step.
She finally stopped for a moment, turning to face away from the building's facade. Instead, she occupied herself by watching the rainfall. It didn't seem to bother her in the slightest and it looked as if there was truly nothing that could dampen her mood or wipe that cute smile of her face. She continued to wait, bouncing on the balls of her feet to pass the time.
"Rise!"
Finally she turned to greet the voice. It had been male although who it really was couldn't be seen as the umbrella obscures his face from view. However the sound of Rise chattering happily carries over despite the rain. The smile from earlier graced her lips once more while she and her companion walked down the sidewalk in the direction Rise had come, the umbrella shielding them both from the weather.
The rain poured down from the heavens and the clouds were tinted a dull blue and gray. Yet nothing, nothing at all, could wipe the smile off her cheerful face.
Sam continued to lick at Rise's hand, urging the girl to wake from her unintended nap on the couch of Hotel Dusk's common room. But instead of rousing, the girl pulled her hand back towards her body, tucking it into her side. This was definitely one dream she didn't want to wake up from. Not yet.
The dog let out a whine just as a purple glow emitted from the Dreamberry on the coffee table not too far off. The glow eventually died out and the feed together with it.
