Prior to becoming an idol, Rise came from a strict family and had always been on her best behavior around them. She was bullied and didn't have many friends and she says it couldn't be helped because she didn't attend school regularly. When an audition her relative had sent in on her behalf passed the first round, she took this opportunity and gave it a shot. She sailed through with flying colors, quickly rising to fame under the name of Risette.
Because of her popularity, the bullying stopped and many wanted to be her friend. She eventually realized that what they wanted was to hang out with Risette, the idol and not Rise, the girl. The idea that people didn't see the real Rise did not sit well, leading her to believe that Risette was a whole other person, separate from Rise herself. Having had enough of the idol life, on June 2011 she announced that she was taking a leave of absence due to illness as a cover for quitting showbiz. She then moved to Inaba to live with her grandmother.
When the Investigation Team first met Rise, she seemed quite reserved and a bit shy, which highly contrasted her image on TV as an idol. It had surprised her fans from Inaba, such as Yosuke, that on TV Rise was bubbly and perky but seemed mellow and solemn when actually meeting her in the flesh. A few days after her arrival, Rise was kidnapped by Namatame and thrown into the TV world. Her dungeon is perceived as a strip show, and her shadow as a stripper version of herself in a bikini. It also said that she would bare everything for Risette's adoring fans. Her shadow represents her hatred for being stereotyped, her fear of Risette possibly becoming an adult star in the future, and her desire to show her real self. Denying that she and the shadow are the same person, the shadow transforms into a seductive pole dancer in a rainbow-colored full body suit. Her shadow has a satellite dish for a face and could scan the team's abilities.
The group attacks Rise’s shadow but as the battle progresses, their attacks stop connecting and are knocked back after being analyzed. Her shadow attacks them once more but Teddie launches himself in the shadow's line of fire, taking the brunt of the attack. Rise awakens afterwards and apologizes for the trouble that "she" has caused, realizing that she was suppressing her shadow and that all sides of Rise (the shadow, herself, and Risette) are still all "Rise", thus accepting her shadow self without the Investigation Team actually defeating it. She takes Teddie's place as the support character, helping the rest of the team by providing analysis of enemies and shadows alike, from then on.
Rise officially joins the Investigation Team a few days after her rescue. She enters Yasogami High in the middle of the school year as a first year student. She, Kanji and Naoto are from the same batch, while Souji, Yosuke, Chie and Yukiko are their upperclassmen one year above them.
As the social link with Rise progresses, she develops a small crush on the protagonist and considers him as her rock. Despite no longer wanting to work in showbiz, the advent of a rival - Kanamin, Rise's junior under the same manager - made Rise have second thoughts about her decision. With the help of the protagonist, she realizes that Risette is still a part of her and that she should not deny herself the enjoyment and fulfillment she gets from being an idol. She decides to return to her job come spring with the intention of showing the public not only Risette, but the other sides of Rise as well.
After her rescue, she and the team continue their investigation on the case. Rise's first trip to the TV world happens when the group goes up against Mitsuo. They had thought that all the murders are finally over when they corner Mitsuo inside the TV World, where he confesses about being behind the latest murder. They later soon realize that he only confessed to killing off Morooka and not for the former murders of Saki and Yamano. They end up saving both Naoto and Nanako before confronting Namatame who they had believed was the mastermind of the killing and kidnapping spree. The team had opposing views on Namatame being the true killer and how he should repent for his deeds. Rise sided on the idea that Namatame shouldn't be thrown into the TV during the argument. With the guidance of the protagonist, they eventually realize that it couldn't have been him and come to learn that it was actually Adachi behind everything. They confront Adachi, defeat him and Ameno-sagiri, and save the world from being consumed by shadows.
Skip to March 2012. The team gather once more to defeat Izanami, who happens to be the mastermind of the phenomenon that allowed them to go into the TV world. The day after defeating her, the protagonist meets up with the team before departing Inaba. Rise, as well as the rest of the team, wish him luck and see him off, running after the train until they run out of platform. She has tears in her eyes as he departs and she excuses herself from the group and decides to head back home for some shut-eye but when she wakes up the next day, she finds herself alone in Somarium.
[Personality]
One of Rise's jobs as an idol was to act, thus she is able to rework herself for the various demands in the business. She can be whoever her manager asks her to be and she does it with complete ease. This, however, leads to her identity crisis wherein she herself wasn't sure who she was any more, and ultimately quitting her job
Despite this, her one true desire is to be able to fit in and belong. She originally became an idol with hopes of finally gaining friends. However, her plan backfired on her and she felt lonelier than ever.
Rise is also able to easily bounce back after grim situations. When she first comes to Inaba, she seems sullen and mellow, still on the mend from leaving showbiz. After her rescue from Namatame, it takes her only a few days to recover from the ordeal, quickly becoming rather energetic and peppy, and immediately joins the investigation team.
As a regular girl, she is cute and bubbly. She is also portrayed to be very girly with a flirtatious nature and is quite the tease.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Rise could summon Himiko (and later on Kanzeon) and help the Investigation Team as support by finding locations of treasures and shadows, as well as shadows' weaknesses during battles. Both Personas have a satellite dish for a face and a visor which allows Rise to provide backup and information for the team in dungeons. However, she is only able to do so within the realms of the TV World (I'm totally not allowing her to do so in Somarium |D).
As an idol, Rise learns fast, adapts well to new situations and has that smile that could be as strong or weak as she needed. Rise is multi-talented, whether it be dancing, singing, acting or simply sitting there looking pretty. She is good at what she does and she knows that very well.
She is also seen helping her grandmother run the Marukyu Tofu shop while in Inaba. Her cooking skills, however, are near nonexistent.

Rise would really like to meet new people and make new friends. She's just kinda touchy feely, but just a tad.~♥
