Br& New...
or, the extended version of this post; Br& New and The Rap King; Kevin Devine.
So called because of these two facts; Brand New were absolutely awesome, as was to be expected, and because Kevin Devine RAPPED FOR ME AND LUCY!!!
Anybody familiar with the Manchester Orchestra podcasts? Podcast #28, anybody? There's a link HERE, and if you scan along to 1.26 seconds, then you can see Kevin doing the infamous rap.
So we're going along the merch stand and he's just chillin' at the end, and Lel keeps asking me whether we can do the rap at him, and I'm all no, no, that's too embarrassing. Then I get held up by the merch guy when he tells me they haven't got the Jellyfish hoodie in small!!! giving Lellis a chance to scoot on past me and begin harrassing Kevin.
By the time I stroll over, she asks him whether he'll- you know what, this is how the conversation went;
Lucy: Will you rap for me?
Kevin: Will I rap for you? *laughs*
Me: She means the rap you did in one of the Manchester Orchestra podcasts.
Kevin: Oh! Oh, really? You want me to rap that for you?
Lucy: Please!
Kevin It'll make you happy?
Lucy: Yes :D
Kevin: You can't tell anybody I did this for you though, alright? *huddles in closer*
Me&Lel: *squee* ALRIGHT! :D
Kevin: *begins the rap, quietly*
And then this is where the bouncers started herding people out and asking us to leave, so Kev started hurrying the song up...
Kevin: Is that good? I kinda forgot it a little.
Me&Lel: :D! THAT WAS AWESOME AHAHAHA THANK YOU
And then we had to leave, but then I got to thinking that nobody would believe that, so I pegged it back inside, telling all the bouncers trying to stop me that I'd forgotten something, and asked Keving for his autograph. I think my words were "Kevin! Can I just get this signed, so that when I tell people the story that you actually did the rap for us, they'll believe me!" And he goes "Aww, but I told you not to tell anybody!"
So I was all "I mean, for when I talk about it with Lucy!" And he signed it! WIN!
The episode last night definately called for the addition of today's new icon! Jesse Lacey + Kevin Devine + AppleMacs = AWESOME ICON
In other news, the escapade involving the extremely long merch queue led to us MISSING THE LAST TRAIN HOME AND SEEMINGLY BEING STRANDED IN MANCHESTER TILL 6 IN THE MORNING!
We text everybody we could think of to help us and in the end, two old men outside some hotel pointed us in the direction of the coach station, where we got home safely and for a very reasonable £7.
On another note, I have the distinct feeling that I'm being robbed :|
My DVD still hasn't arrived from that guy I ordered it from through Amazon, and after I sent him an e-mail, the rude bugger hasn't even replied! If that isn't a breach of his seller contract, I don't know what is!!! He better hope it arrives in the next three days, or I am CLAIMING ON HIS ASS!
Thanks to him, I either have to A) hope I can rent it from somewhere, or B) app Hanna Schmitz with only what I know from the book and see the film whenever I can. I have till the end of June and then my reserve will end and I'll have to wait a couple months to try again :(
