Right, posting things...

So I haven't posted anything yet from this semeseter.

Class is going well (yes, only one of them). I'm taking Parallel and Distributed Systems, which is pretty interesting most of the time. Occasionally it delves too deeply into the implementation details of hardware I'm likely never going to use/design.

I'm also TAing a CS 172 (Data Structures) Lab and CS 256 (Operating Systems). The 172 lab is fun and my lab session is probably the only one where people actually show up which makes it more enjoyable. 256 is going well so far, but grading will probably take more time than initially expected and is pretty boring.

My terms with CIF (as President) and with DU (as Programming chair) are over which means I don't have any official responsibilities which feels great. CIF, however, probably needs my help now more than ever. CIF has been having lots of problems with the administration recently and there is concern that we might lose the floor or be slowly forced away. The good news is that recruitment is way up, which means that we do have a more compelling argument with the University. I've spent too many hours making CIF survive for it to disappear now.

I'm proud of myself because I've made the good habit of going to the gym 4 days a week. Twice a week for weight lifting and twice for swimming. It's a good rhythm and is helping me get into shape, a nice boost to my confidence. However, the girlfriend search continues.

My laptop hard drive was on a downward spiral and was sporadically making loud clicking noises so I decided it would be best to replace it before things got out of hand. This also made me realize that I'd have to reinstall windows, but then it also occurred to me that this would be a great time to install linux (Gentoo). So I spent last weekend installing linux and dual booting with windows. Everything seems to be running well in linux with only a few minor things left to work out. So far I'm liking the switch and just ironing out some problems and playing around with things. If you've used linux extensively, I'd be interested in your thoughts/opinions on some of the programs you use.
