Title: Words Unspoken
Author: kelbelle
Fandom: The Young and the Restless
Pairing: Kevin/Colleen
Rating: T for Teen
Word Count: 461
Notes: There probably aren't any Y&R fans around these parts, but I've been wanting to write these two forever. I'm a sucker for "tried to kill you, now we're totally friends" relationships.

Summary: They hadn’t talked much about their reconciliation after Jana tried to incinerate them both, it was unspoken and accepted that the past was the past.

When he opened his door a half-hour ago, a soaking wet Colleen Carlton was the last thing he expected to see. She hadn’t said much, but he’d gathered that Korbel had skipped town with little more than a “Dear Colleen” letter and the promise of an explanation later.

But she wasn’t crying. She was angry. So angry that he stood back and let her tear around his small apartment while cursing the professor and railing against her own stupidity. His offers to call Lily or Daniel or even her father had fallen on deaf ears as she continued her tirade.

She finally exhausted herself and collapsed on a wet heap onto the couch next to him. After a minute laughter bubbled out of her, almost maniacally.

“And I’m here with you, of all places.”

“Yeah, you must be really desperate.” He grinned back at her.

They hadn’t talked much about their reconciliation after Jana tried to incinerate them both, it was unspoken and accepted that the past was the past. And now they were almost friends. Or at least friendly. It drove J.T. nuts, which was worth the price of admission.

He unearthed a pair of sweatpants and an old shirt and pointed her towards the bathroom.

He took her car keys and poured her a drink. Whiskey.

She came back out into the living room, her hair roughly towel-dried and curling around her face. Her face was bare of makeup, as were her feet.

She was beautiful.

And still very, very angry.

They finished the whiskey, her more than him. She needed it more. He’d just about drank out all his Jana troubles. The least he could do is help a friend through her own.

But when she kissed him, it was completely unexpected.

Then he was sure he was dreaming. He was so sure he was dreaming till her cold hands made their way under his t-shirt and her fingernails raked down his back. She tasted like Jack Daniel’s.

He’d sworn he wouldn’t let himself be used by yet another woman, but his hands moved on their own to pull her closer against him.

That’s when things spun out of control.

There was nothing gentle about what they were doing. Cotton was ripped and glasses crashed to the floor when the coffee table was kicked over in their fumbling towards the couch. They missed and landed on the hardwood floor, but went on undeterred.

She was brutal, biting, passionate and fast. It was a struggle just to keep up with her and to hold on long enough that this didn’t end instantly.

She collapsed on top of him.

Several minutes later after their breathing had slowed down, she bubbled forth with laughter again.

“With you, of all people.”
