Hermione set a kettle of water on the flickering blue flame coming from one of the burners of the tiny hob in the corner of the room and turned the flame higher. Making tea was a simple task but it made her feel like things were a bit more normal. Have a bad day? Make some tea. Feeling chilled? Make tea. Ron's a werewolf and you're sitting with him for the first night? Make tea.
Alright, maybe that didn't work so well. But she had to pretend.
Without turning, she addressed Ron. "The potion is in that thermos sitting on the shelf and if you'd like, I can take your clothes over to this side so they don't get destroyed."
She hadn't told him that she would be staying with him alone the first night. Instead opting to show up shortly after he did and choosing not to respond to his initial protest. The remainder of the late afternoon was spent putting things together. Bedroll laid out and there was a tin of beans warming in a pot of boiling water.
It was going to be a long night. She was prepared for that. Hopefully the potion would work and he'd spend it calm and quiet. But Hermione had little testing evidence to go on. So it was either he would sleep the night away as a regular wolf or spend it the other form. Either way she was prepared. Frightened, but prepared.
"Are you hungry?" The question came out a little shaky.
