Luna couldn't help herself. She didn't want to have to wait for it and pacing the floor below certainly didn't settle her curiosity in the slightest. So instead of waiting down in the kitchen with some of the others or chatting in the sitting room with the remainder (minus Hermione who was in the Library), Luna decided to settle herself with a large book outside of the suite that belonged to dearest Terry and Susan.
Inside she could hear the sounds of the laborious journey that her two friends were making into parenthood. The dampening charms didn't stick into the cracks of the door so well.
Poor Susan. She was not enjoying this at all.
It took many chapters of her book and a rather sore spot on her bum before Luna heard the tiny cry. What a beautiful sound! It was like... oh she couldn't even describe it!
"It's a beautiful, bouncing, noisy baby boy!" came Penny's happy voice from beyond the hinges. Luna's mind swirled and jumped. A boy! A baby boy!
She leapt to her feet and scooped up Topper who had curled up beside her to snooze while a flurry of activity was happening to his family. The lanky cat yowled in protest and squirmed, but Luna held him tight and spun around in a circle.
A boy! She couldn't take the grin off her face.
And she had exactly the right colour of yarn for this. Letting the cat go, Luna scurried off for the stairs, leaping down two at a time to tell everyone.
